Why does a dead battery start working again after you heat it?

  1. The electricity from a battery comes from a chemical reaction.  The battery dies when the chemical reaction no longer happens fast enough to supply sufficient energy to run the device it is in.  When you heat a battery the heat acts as a catalyst (something that speeds up a chemical reaction) which allows the battery to put out more current.
