Please use small words and simple terms. I have no clue what it is and I don't want to be completely taken for a ton of money when I have someone do it.

  1. you don't want an electrical bond with your gas meter, that's just asking for trouble

  2. u gt british gas lol

  3. so it won't be messed with

  4. where are you located  ? usa  , uk   etc  do they want it bonded for an  electrical ground , that sort of bonding ? or for a money bond . and electrical bond is a grounding bond usually require very heavy gauge wire .i don't think it is a good idea to bond a gas meter but if they want it bonded i guess you must . bonding material would cost 25 dollars or less

  5. this is the C.P.S. responsibility you don't wave to pay

  6. I've not heard of this but here's my opinion. Your gas company wants to insure that the meter will not be tampered with, opened or taken. Much like a "bond" must be placed on a criminal until he shows up for trial. Then you get the bond (money) returned to you.

  7. Because some businesses are not honest.  And sometimes the meter might be malfunctioning without the owner knowing about it.  There are meters that will say the customer is getting 3 gallons when they are actually getting only 2 gallons.  The gas meter gets tested to make sure the meter is accurate.  That way the customer knows that a 3rd party has tested the meter for accuracy and they get the peace of mind for knowing they wont get ripped off.

  8. If you're referring to an electrical bond, it's there in case the gas piping gets electrified, say by a bad wire in the attic.  A bond would continue the circuit to ground.  IOWs, it would complete the circuit and cause a circuit breaker to trip, of a fuse to blow.

Without a bond, some poor gas technician could stumble across the aforementioned electrified gas piping and complete the circuit himself - something he would prefer not to do.

It should not be a very expensive endeavor.
