I really don't think that there is one general answer to this question, I think that the answer would vary on each individual situation.  Same as why a wife cheats on her husband & blames the other man for taking advantage of her in her "Time of weakness!"  People need to realize that not everything is black & white & that there are THREE sides to every story.  How about when the husband & wife have just drifted apart & they treat each other like garbage, but try to stay together for the kids (WHICH NEVER WORKS!)  Been there done this in the end I should have trusted my instincts BEFORE we said I do & walked away, but you think things will get better and THEY DO NOT! Thank God I'm gone now, life is sweet!

they cheat b/c they need to know that they are still desired by the opposite s*x. they blame the other woman b/c they want you to know that all these other woman still want them and how lucky your are that they choose you.

Men cheat on their wives because there wives are not providing something that they "want". It may be sexual or it may be something else entirely, but mostly sexual. In a marriage alot of couples get into a routine. And lets face it after a white routine gets boring.  It is important in a relationship to keep things in the open and be able to communicate with your partner. Also you need an understanding of one another. All relationships falter at one time or another. But when one person cheats in a relationship it is because they are missing something in the relationship. Not all the time but most.

Cheating is an act of agression.  When you cheat on someone, it's, typically to get back at them for not doing something that you think they should be doing and it's easier to just find someone else to fill that "void" than to sit down and talk to your significant other and work out why the void exists in the first place.  The problem is, the cheater is usually quite comfortable with their current situation and doesn't really want to leave it - if they did, they wouldn't be cheating in the first place.  When they're caught, they blame the other woman or man for everything because at least some part of them still wants to hold on to the existing relationship.

They want to blame the other woman for luring their poor unsuspecting husband from them. Those home-wrecking hussies...as if he has no responsibility to it.
