Why does an AMP go into protect mode for no reason?

So i just got some subs and an AMP the only problem is the amp seems to be stuck in protect mode and wont turn on. Its been like this since i first hooked it up.

  1. The amp would not go into protection for no reason unless you have a faulty amp. If its into protection mode, then there is something wrong somewhere. Check power and ground wires, make sure your ground is solid. If possible, check the voltage that the amp is getting with a meter. Too high or too low a reading can cause the amp to go into protect. Just make sure you double and triple check everything. The subs can be tested by taking a 12 volt battery and connecting the battery terminals to the sub terminals. This should give the sub a small bit of power and cause it to move slightly. Like a heartbeat. This, however, does not ensure that the sub is working 100%. It can still sound like c**p even though it is operable. Good luck with everything.
