I downloaded bit comet, and now i'm downloading something off it and its taking ages its only 1 GB. It also slowed my internet down so much. I have to wait 10 minutes to go to the next page on website and i'm not even joking literally thats whats happening. So what does my laptop need to be of bounds until the film downloads? (thats scarcastic btw) I have been downloaded my film for 8 hours and its only on 25%, i don't mind that. but its slowing my laptop down sooooooooo much. Does anyone know what i can do to make my internet go faster while still downloading off bitcomet?????????????????????

make sure you have lots of seeders to download the file fast and make sure the uploads speed is not sect as max or your internet will go slow..

you can test your upload and downalod speeds at speedtest.net

  2. I'd also recommend switching to uTorrent which has a very light user footprint.  As for your download speed, that will depend on a few things, but you would need lots of seeds to download really quickly from torrents. Or switch to Newsgroups where they take a fraction of the time.

Edit: If you turn your PC off then no it can't download anymore, but what has been downloaded will still be there when you turn it back on.

  3. Because its consumming most of your bandwidth... thats why...

  4. Not sure about Bitcomet, but Bittorrent also installs a third party crapware program called DNA - monitors you!, it is easily erased.  Check your program files for software your unsure of.  Also, torrent downloads can be slow, patience is required.  As with all torrents, presumably your not squeaky clean!  Be careful what you download and install.

  5. The slowing of the internet is usually due to too much upload bandwidth being used.  Limiting upload in BitComet to 80% of your overall upload capacity should help.  This guide to setting BitComet up for best download speed has info on this and more:

No.  The download will not carry on when the computer is off (or in sleep or hibernation).

Yes the download will still be there at the point it was when you turned off the computer.
