Why does bleach sometimes leave yellow stains?

I washed a load of whites and the bleach left yellow spots on some of the clothes. Why did this happen? Can I fix the spots? How do I prevent this from happening in the future?

  1. I have a high efficiency washer as well and in my manual it does say to add some water to the bleach basin. You could try that and see how it works.

Also have you tried the HE bleach? It is thicker than normal and may help prevent the blots of bleach on your clothes.

Other than that, I would suggest using ammonia in your whites. It actually keeps your whites white longer than bleach will. Bleach will cause yellowing over time anyway.

    Hope this helps!

  2. too much bleach ..................use ace bleach on clothes it's much more gentle.........

  3. I have had this problem too, and for me it seems to be worse when the water softener is out of salt.

    But I don't actually know.

I usually just hand wash my white clothes.

  4. less bleach next time. Add bleach first, then fill the basin with water and then add the clothes.

  5. the natural color of bleach is yellow your using way too much and not enough water!

  6. use less bleach or more water, bleach will burn clothes because its concentrated....so just add more water

  7. you are keeping it on for to long when you use it put a dab of it and work it into the clothing item as soon as you do that rinse with water
