Why does carbon disulphide (CS2) exist but not carbon sulphide (CS)?

cant CS be formed with carbon donating one lone pair of electrons forming dative bonding?

  1. Coz the triple bond of CS is too reactive!!!


  2. The CS triple bond is just too reactive.  The orbital overlap between carbon and sulfur is not as good as it is for oxygen (CO is stable).
