  1. It may not be the volume of the sound but the sound itself.  Some people cringe when the fork scrapes across the plate.  Others as you know freak out when the teachers squeaks the chalk on the chalk board or accidently scratches it.  Others don't like the sound of styrafoam rubbing together, and others hate rubbing wood popsicle sticks.

Or, your hearing may just be sharper or more sensitive.  Be glad of that, music would be more a pleasure if that was me.

  2. maybe you should go to your local doctor he/she will probably help

  3. Sounds like your a Mannerfoab.

It's only the sloppy food manners that set you off.

Perhaps if you hear those sounds again, just start humming a song. Mary had a little lamb perhaps?

  4. Actually, it is not add at all. As a matter of fact, it is quite common. It is called hyperacusis - a health condition characterized by an over-sensitivity to certain frequency ranges of sound.

The most common cause of hyperacusis is overexposure to excessively high decibel levels (or sound pressure levels). Some come down with hyperacusis suddenly by firing a gun, having an airbag deploy in their car, experiencing any extremely loud sound, taking ear sensitive drugs, Lyme disease, Meniere’s, TMJ – jaw disorder), head injury, or surgery. Others are born with sound sensitivity (Superior Canal Dehiscence Syndrome), have had a history of ear infections, or come from a family that has had hearing problems. The causes include, but are not limited to:

    Migraine

    Severe head trauma

    Facial nerve dysfunction

    Surgery

    Ear irrigation

    Tension Myositis Syndrome

    TMJ (Temporomandibular (jaw) joint disorder)

    Adverse drug reaction

    Williams Syndrome

    Autism

    Bell's palsy

    Ménière's disease

    Asperger syndrome

    Superior canal dehiscence syndrome (SCDS)

    Chronic ear infections

    Minor Head Injury

Also there is some speculation that childhood vaccinations can play a role in developing oversensitivity to sounds.
