Why does ch 9 keep showing south sydney games?

It isn't Channel 9's fault. It is the draw. Channel 9 show the 2 Friday Night Games and the Sunday Game at 3:00 (televised at 4:00). Channel 9 can't control the games. It is the people that make up the draw.

EDIT: so what u r saying it is that Channel 9 control the games. They want to telecast certain people. They give the details of the fixtures around 5 rounds before the match. They have details for fixtures till round 11. Channel 9 havent got that much power.

Clearly you don't have pay tv... may i suggest you get it.

Those above who said it was due to the NRL schedule are correct, Nine can only show what games are on Friday Night and one from Sunday.

Pay TV companies may be more to blame as they would have more sway with the NRL then Nine. Either way, with all your questions being about Souths... it's starting to look like you love them.

i think it goes on how they performed the year before.  a few years back when the cowboys were stuggling they didn't show their games much but they show them now. same as the panthers they didn't do to well last year so they don't get much air time. not sure why the storm has no games mite be the bigwigs in sydney i think you will find any team that's not in nsw will get less air time. channel 9 controls the nrl . they would most likley be thinking they would get more people watch a souths v penrith game then a storm v broncos. which is strange i know.

Here's how it works. The draw for when the games are going to be played is done approx six weeks in advance in order for the clubs to work out what day they are playing so they can start to advertise it and sell tickets.

Normally there are eight games played on a weekend.

As Channel nine are the major sponsors they get to pick what games they want first, but remember this is in six weeks time that it is going to be televised. Ch9 selects game 1 and 2 and these are the games that are played on Friday night. They usually like a Sydney team and a QLD team playing in opposing games so they can broadcast live into both states.

Fox then selects game 3 and 4 and usually play these on Saturday night hence if you have fox they call it Super Saturday.

Ch 9 then selects game 5 and this game is the one you see on Sunday Afternoon.

Fox is then left with games 6, 7 & 8 and they decide when they play and choice one for Monday night.

Please bare in mind that whilst making these decisions they have to take into account when the teams played the previous week and when they decide when the teams are playing they are looking at the table six weeks in advance so if a team is sitting first and then loses its next six games before it is broadcast it slides down the table.

They also take into account their ratings for when particular teams are playing and which teams get the most viewers.

Rabbitohs have been on this year because everybody loved the fact that they made the semis last year however with there current form don't expect to see them on the tele in six weeks time.

And Brenton C it is channel 9 that determines what games are on which nights The draw only says who's playing who each week not what days they are played on

Because at the end of the day.. we are from Melbourne and we are an AFL state so nobody wants to watch us... thats what i've come to believe.. being i'm a big Storm supporter... its bullsh*t..
