Why does channel 7 have such selective coverage of the Olympics?

They only show sports that Australia is competing in. That's fair enough, Australians want to see their athletes doing what they do best. But I am well and truly pissed off that all they ever show are the sports with well known athletes, the swimmers and cyclists and such.

Channel 7, why won't you give other deserving athletes their chance to show their country what they can do? Oh joy, Australia are in line for the silver medal in the equestrian 3 day event yet all they show of the performances are a dressage test and a NEW ZEALAND competitor's fall in cross country.

All we are told of the badminton is that Australia is bad at it, no chance to see it for ourselves. I bet everyone reading this knows who Grant Hackett is and has no idea who Tanya Luiz is.

What about the combat sports? We see one judo match, and that because an Australian is winning. Fair enough, the Taekwondo finals haven't started yet, but you can bet we won't see much of it.

Naturally I want to see these sports in particular because I participate in them, but I will bet that they will not be the only sports with little to no coverage by channel 7, the 'official broadcaster' -- of one or two sports.

  1. I KNOWWWW. that's so annoying. At least we still have SBS ^^

  2. Because they assume that Australians want to see the Australians. I have to say I like their coverage, but because they show alot of swimming and diving, which I love to watch.

And yes, I know who Hackett is and don't know who Luiz is. Sorry.

  3. local channel present  local athlete and events try some international channel

  4. because the olympics is special and it only happens every 4 years so people want to watch it big time
