I'm against whaling because of the hugely adverse environmental impacts of such and because I think whales are at a level of intelligence that earns them our protection, BUT, I'm cautious of condemnations using words like "evil." Before you condemn the Chinese or other countries that engage in whaling as "evil", realize that you, too, engage in cultural practices that the Chinese could argue are horrible. The way to address issues like this is to look at the practical and cultural and economic reasons such is happening, and think about how all of these reasons could be addressed.
