  1. I asked this question once of the owner of Dunkin Donuts.  Her response was that the heat of the water effects the brewing process and their professional machines can achieve a higher temperature.

  2. Old Coffee.

The beans you buy whether they are from the same source or not are usually stuff that has sat on the self of a warehouse for weeks, then sat in the coffee shop for several more weeks to months.

There is only one way to know your getting fresh beans, know when the bean was roasted. Most roasters put a "best By" date, but that is worthless because that can be 9 months from the roast date. Coffee is only fresh within a 2 to 3 week period after roast.

Alternative to getting fresh roasted from a shop...Do it yourself like I do. Buy green coffee beans and roast them yourself. It isn't hard.

And learn to do a pour over brew. Most electric drip brews do not get the water hot enough to extract the coffee flavor correctly. Proper extraction occurs at 190 to 205 F. Most Chinese made drip brew machines are lucky to reach 160-165F.

  3. They use other flavorings. For example, instead of granulated sugar, they will use cane syrup with vanilla. The condition of your coffee maker is also important. Also, the beans you get may not be as fresh. Are you grinding them just before you brew? Do you keep them vacuum sealed in the freezer?

  4. do you grind your own beans?

  5. They use 4 times as much coffee as you do at home.

  6. they grind their own beans, add their own mixtures, and also they have more practice.

  7. Do you REALLY get the same beans, and grind them fresh before each cup?   Do you use filtered water?   Do you use a sparkling clean coffee pot?   Does the water get hot enough when you're brewing it?   Do you use enough grinds when you brew it?..  Try getting a GOOD coffee pot (not Mr. Coffee, or something cheap like that).  Cuisinart makes some excellent pots........

  8. well, they add lots of flavors like cream, caramel etc to make it unique. plus, they have "special ingredients" that make it exceptionally good :))

  9. i work in costa coffee lol and we use different beans and we use a different grinder and we use a different expensive machine to heat it up perfect and make it perfect and we use a special way of making it

  10. Your pot is old and rusted and it effects the taste of the coffee.
