Question:

Why does coke-a-cola in Canada now have a different taste? ?

I have been a big coke drinker for many years, and since March 2008, all available coke in my area of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan tastes like they have the recipe wrong. I am not sure if this is north America wide, or Canada wide, or just in my area. The once perfect balance now tastes like they have crumbled a gingerbread man into every bottle, and added a bit of cigarette ash. (a smokey, nutmeg flavor that is very overpowering). This is not a subtle difference, and EVERY bottle in town over the last several months tastes like this. I keep trying coke hoping they have corrected this problem, but it hasn't changed yet. I also noticed that this big taste difference coincided with Coke dropping the "classic" text on all bottles. Coke bottles now just read Coke-a-cola instead of Coke-a-cola Classic. The new coke tastes a bit like coke available in Europe, which is very different. Coke co. claims that the recipe is the same throughout the world, but in my experience, the taste of coke varies greatly, and for Coke co. to deny this is borderline insulting to its drinkers. Anyway, just wondering if anyone has experienced the same change in Coke, and if anyone knows what is going on. I miss coke.

  1. You know... I have no idea. It's strange how colas taste different when you go to another country. I haven't been to Canada in several years, but I got to the UK almost yearly, and I'm repeatedly blown away by how different their Dr. Pepper tastes. It's like a completely different drink.

Who knows? I think Coke should taste the same no matter where you go!

Edit: UK Cherry Coke is funky, too! It tastes more cherry-like.

  2. There is no such drink as "coke-a-cola"

Are you asking about Coca-Cola known also as Coke?
