  1. it does tend to pick up the plastic flavor, doesn't it?

  2. I think that most of your other responders are correct - it is the chemicals from the plastic leaching into the contents.

I agree that the plastic tastes worse - and I also have never liked drinking out of cans.

But the WORST, BY FAR is STYROFOAM!!!!!!!!!!!!  I really HATE drinking out of that!!!!

My ex-room-mate said his mother had a bone-china cup she always drank out of and never drank out of anything else because she insisted that everything tasted better from it.

At work, I have a big dark blue glass cup and I prefer drinking water from it to drinking it out of a plastic bottle.

I have noticed that even with a lot of cups and glasses to choose from, the people around me have always seemed to have a favorite glass or cup they would rather use than any other.

  3. it's a different recipe. The main sweetener in glass bottle coke (and european coke) is sucrose; whereas the american and plastic bottle coke is sweetened mainly with high fructose corn syrup.  Also it's more lightly carbonated as plastic can't hold as much pressure

  4. A little add on too the sweetener posting.  The Coke company releases a Kosher coke for Hanukkah made with cane sugar every year, it's supposed to taste better ( if you can find it !)

  5. Plastics exude chemicals which changes the taste.  Same as aluminum and tin cans do.

  6. "Ooh Wee!  I've just deleted you from my list of contacts."

"We do not share the same taste in POISONS."

  7. It's an illusion. You put your lips onto the plastic and get a bit of that along with the coke, the same thing with feel of glass on your lips along with, probably, memories of drinking coke out of glass whe you were younger.

Try both out of a glass, they are the same.

  8. i think its cos the chemicals in the plastic get mixed with the coke, or something.

  9. And it tastes even worse from a can.
