Why does common salt become sticky during rainy season?

  1. impure common salt has affinity to H2O just like sugar or CuSO4

    ....and this is called water of crytallisation

    .....eg CuSO4.XH2O....

    so that's why in high humidity u feel salt or sugar rather sticky...for copper sulphate at times it can change to liquid totally,,,coz it has a high affinity for H2O...


  2. yes it has to do with the humidity,,, I always put a egg noodle in my shaker and it helps a lot

  3. put a few grains of rice in the salt shaker.it will help.

  4. yes the humidity in the air causes the salt to become moist and sticky... the moisture makes the salt sticky because of the salt being wet lol....
