If you get barbecue or honey mustard sauce for a chicken sandwich, they often give you the little bucket even if it's for spreading.

  1. Ketchup goes on burgers and other products in addition to fries so having a dipping container wouldn't work. You would be more likely to get ketchup on your face if you dipped your burger into it.

If you say, well "why don't they have a dipping container and a packet", I'd say it probably wouldn't be cost effective. In the U.S., fast-food restaurants don't charge for ketchup buy in Europe and other places they do. Maybe they could do this there because they pass the cost on to consumers.

  2. Good Question! I guess ... so that you can spread the ketchup on wht you like instead of dipping. I would rather dip!

  3. Always is a matter of money.... packs are cheaper and ketchup is more widely used.

  4. the places are cheep!!
