It has to do with the production of ADH (anti-diuretic hormone). Like everyone has been saying, alcohol is a diuretic, so when you're drinking, your body blocks the release of ADH, which preserves the water your body needs... In other words: your body absorbs the alcohol, but every bit of water goes right through you. Hope this helps!

its the same with drinking water. except alcohol is poison in essence and so the body wants to get rid of it as soon as possible.. so it only seems right you urinate more often as your body is flushing out.

its the same with water, however water is good for you as it helps flush out the toxins so thats why water triggers you to urinate more often too.

you guys are stupid, the real answer is: alcohol is a diuretic, in simple terms a diuretic makes you pee. coffe, tea and even cucumber are mild diuretics too, just not as much as alcohol.
