Why does every 14 year old CHILD on here think she's in love?

I'm old enough to be a grandmother.....and when I was 14 I thought I was "in-love".

It's part of growing up.....and CHILDREN have been doing it forever.

Oh what, you weren't like that when you were fourteen or in your teens? First of all, being a teenager is not too young to fall in love. This one couple at my school they've been together for almost four years now - that's ever since seventh grade. They're pretty nice too, they're my friends - but yeah they have to be the longest lasting couple at my school. And no they haven't done anything, I guess they just really like each other. If they least together at our senior year it will be seven or eight years of being together - that's longer than some married couples I know. Their relationship in fact is stronger than married couples I know. That's kind of crazy there. But I guess it's because they (like me) are both very open and so they don't have anything to hide.

Anyways, when a fourteen year old thinks they're in love it's because it's so new and different, they have a feeling inside of them they don't think they've ever felt before. You have butterflies in your stomach, you want to see that person every five minutes, I don't know the feeling but my friend (in the long lasting relationship) does. You just feel so happy. It doesn't make them bad people or anything, it's just this new experience that these teenagers don't understand or can't wrap their finger around. They think their boyfriend/girlfriend is "the one" and that this is the person they're going to spend the rest of their life with (with the couple I mentioned, it's the other way around their friends are betting that they'll get married), and who knows sometimes it can be the case. But most of the time - it was just a high school thing.

You shouldn't be so quick to judge. I'm sure you had crushes on guys or something. I mean when I was younger I thought I was in love with the guys I had a crush on (of course they never knew). I think personally it's more of a lust thing rather than love, but that's my personal opinion.

And it's not the Disney movies that are causing this that has nothing to do with it, you can't stop your hormones or how you feel. I remember in seventh grade I had a crush on some guy I never expected to like - ever, but it was my time of month and you know those hormones are just out of whack. But now that's all over with. I don't even watch Disney. The feelings one might feel is indescribable, who knows it might not be love but it sure feels like it. They think no one else knows what they're feeling.

My mother and I  think as long as the teenagers aren't getting pregnant and acting stupid then I don't think there's anything wrong to "think" they're in love.

Can you say MTV or any prime time tv show.  Fourteen year olds are being pushed everyday to expolore sexuality, but really all girls want is to be loved.  Generally boys just want s*x.

It's because they think they are the only ones to ever feel like that. That their love is real and no-one can tell them other wise.

Dosen't matter who it is, it could be your favorite singer or actor. It's the first heavy feelings, hormones.. Whatever, but it's natural.

their in love for as much as they can be at that age. When you get older, you are able to love more fully, but I think proportionally, even though they don't really know what they are talking about, they ARE actually in love.

Mainly its just that childhood phase.

But for some it really is, 14 isn't too young to fall in love.

It happened to me at that age, 2 years on, im still in love with the same person :)
