Why does every electric fan's controls have the high speed next to the off position?

  1. Because the high speed has the most starting torque to get the motor moving.  It helps even if only for a fraction of a second.


  2. because that is the end of the speed cycle off means 0 sped and on is the highest

  3. Because the engineer knew most people will use the high position, so they won't have to switch through medium and low every time getting to the high position.
