  1. because they haven't watched & they have smaller brains  and balls too (at least they used to) Maybe they had to have a canuck show them how to hold them. (footballs, i mean).  Also because generally, americans think anything outside of the usa is worthless.  That is why they are so endearing.

  2. The reason why the CFL hasn't flourished to the Prime Rival League to the NFL as it hopes, is because the Country of Canada has <15% people than The United States of America. The CFL rules also state that you must have at least 20 native Canadians on your squad. Also their are less markets in Canada.

  3. I watch Canadian football every once in a while, but can't stand the fact they only have three downs. wtf?!!

If it weren't for that, I might enjoy it.

  4. Candian football is great to watch, field is longer but I like to watch it, I can only watch it on satelite

  5. The reason is money. The money attracts the better players, and people think that the where the better players are, the better rules and league. I have been lucky to talk to players that have played in both leagues and as they stated, the game is better in the CFL, but the money and benifits are great in the NFL.

Also look at the former Baltimore CFL team. Their fan base was very strong and for many years, they tried to get the CFL to come back. Famious quote that I have heard from one fan was "There is no sissy fair catch rule in the CLF unlike the NFL."

The games are different and there are many NFL players that would not make the CFL squads due to them being not fast enough (get into the huddle, out of the huddle and start the play in 25 seconds compaired to 40 in the NFL).

I do enjoy watching both games, but do prefer the CFL as on any given day, any team can win and 1 minute in the CFL is a lifetime where the NFL is a knee.

  6. God bless America

  7. Because it is. The CFL is where all the people who couldn't make it in the NFL go.

  8. When I hear people say that the NFL or NCAA is better than the CFL or CIS, that is strictly a personal comment and really doesn't tell anyone anything.  The bottom line is, both American and Canadian football is all gridiron football.  My wife, for example, after watching football for over a year of both varieties casually never even realized there were some rule differences.  It's all about blocking, tackling, running, throwing, kicking an oblong shaped ball that is basically the same size in both countries.  Strategies are even basically the same with, of course, some unique strategies unique to both American and Canadian version due to the rule differences.  But it's all gridirion football at the end of the day.

Since I love gridiron football and appreciate the history and traditions of how the game has developed in both the US and Canada, I love the NFL, CFL, CIS, NCAA, high school, kids league etc.  Just love watching guys tackle, run, throw, kick, block etc. regardless if there are 3 downs or 4 downs or 20 seconds or 40 seconds to put the ball in play, 11 or 12 men on the field, wider or narrower field, doesn't matter to this true fan of the game.

Of course, in the US gridiron is much more popular than it is in Canada where the game of hockey is the no. 1 sport, for better or worse.  And in Canada we are so bombarded with American media compared with Canadian media, who basically tag along with American media anyways for stories, that is is easy why more people in Canada would know the NFL, NCAA players and where it is marketed so much with the big stadiums and that in the US.  It is easy for me to understand why some Canadians only want to watch American gridiron football.  That being said, it's also great to know that there are many Canadians like myself who appreciate the history and traditon of Canadian football and follow it, we are a special breed who respect Canadiana culture and history more than other Canadians who just rely on the US for their version of culture.

In the end, I like the NFL and NCAA as I love the emphasis the US puts on gridiron with the big stadiums and packed stadiums a lot of the time and the fact that the players are high profile and the best, or at least the best/biggest combination.

I like the CFL and CIS because while the players generally aren't the best/biggest combo, it is gridiron still the same, played in my country, with a history that dates back to the mid 1800's, playing for great trophies in the historical Grey Cup, started in 1909, and the Vanier Cup.  And I can watch the CFL and CIS in my home town of Hamilton, Ontario.  And even if the CFL and CIS changed completely to American rules, I would still watch Canadian football because I love the game and it's played in Canada.  We've already adopted a lot of American rules over the years and we still might adopt more, whatever makes sense.  But Canadian football predates American football, as I hope most know, with McGill showing Harvard in 1874 how to play rugby football compared with soccer which was what was being played as football in most of the US at the time.  If it weren't for Canada, soccer today might be the most popular football in the US today.  As I think about it though, the US should adopt some Canadian rules as 4 downs is too many downs for a first down, 3 obviously is harder since it's one less down and harder is better for me, but as I say, I love it all.  And get rid of that fair catch, it's a wimpy play, why should someone just be able to say "don't hit me" when the ball is in play?  Horrible rule and not a true, tough football rule IMHO.

But yes, the money is why any football player wants to make the NFL first, I would too.

  9. all of the players in who cant make it in the nfl play there.

i actually watch both and live america so i have no problem with the cfl.

  10. Well sir, there's a lot more money in NFL, as such, all the best players go down there. I am Canadian and I can't watch CFL, the defence...is terrible! As far as the rules go? I think if the rules were switched, with the same amount of money in NFL, then everyone would say "man, 3 downs is a much better game than 4 downs. U S A U S A U S A!"

  11. im from canada and i think NFL is WAY better than CFL

  12. The most talented players end up in the NFL. The CFL is like the minor leagues.

  13. Like others ahead of me have mentioned, its all about money.  As a football player you only have a limited amount of time to play, so they go for the money which is totally understandable.  NFL can pay their players more because they have a larger fan based purely based on population.

Don't get me wrong, I love CFL and NFL.  I think both have advantages and disadvantages.

Here's a thought....if everyone thinks 4 downs are far superior than 3, why don't we try 5 downs?  Actually let's go with 6 or 7 downs!  Imagine how great that would be!!  (I hope you realize that this is sarcastic, just trying to make the point that there is more than one way to get something done.)

  14. Personally, I believe our game is harder to play in some positions, and makes for better players.  Have you noticed, no quarterback who has been a quality starter in the NFL has ever, ever made it in the CFL?  They just can't figure out how to move the ball 10 yards with only 3 downs.  However, quarterbacks who have been starters in the CFL have done very well in the NFL. Remember Warren Moon?  The NFL didn't want him until his skills were finely honed in Canada.  Those who insult Canadian football just because it is Canadian are foolish.  You don't have to like it, but if you expect us to respect your opinion on anything you have no business coming in the forum of a sport you have no liking for just to pass insults.

  15. you arewrong, punk! canadien footbvall is where the NFL REJECTS  GO TO PLAY! THEY ONLY GO TO THAT SATUPID LEAGUE TO KEEP IN SHAPE UNTIL AN NFL SCOUT CALLS!! you do not know anything, you freaking punk!!

  16. I've never watched Canadian Football.

I love American football and would be willing to bet its wayyy more exciting
