They offer you a veggie quiche or something instead.

  1. My partner is veggie and we have a nightmare going out to dinner. He normally has a choice of badly cooked veggie lasagne, vegetable tart or veggie burger. We wander aimlessly trying to find a mutual restaurant. When we manage to find one that does a nut roast (which he don't really like) and all the trimmings they don't do veggie gravy so its all dry. It seems quite sad that you can find food from all continents but not a veggie restaurant in sight. The hungry Horse chain will do the roast trimmings with whatever other veggie dish you like but you have to be persuasive. Least you stay slim!!

  2. If it is just the meat they are not taking you would probably find that the gravy has been made by some sort of meat stock

  3. coz most of it is cooked in animal fat

  4. Because they feel that vegetarians will object to any food that has been cooked with animal products.

Just look at McDonalds, vegetarians found out the their fry oil had animal fats in them and pressured McDonalds to change it, which they did and I'm sure it cost them a pretty penny.

  5. It is cooked in a beef broth.

  6. immediately when they hear vegetarian they think 'health nut', so just do what i do, pick a restaurant and if they have what you want stick to them they will eventually adapt to you as well,so nice being a vegt, ain't it?

  7. Presumably because the rest of the meal would be tainted with the meat, especially the gravy.

  8. often accompaniments like veg roasters etc are cooked along with the roast there for have been basted in it juices and they know you will object time the did a veggie version of the good old roast

  9. because they are all dumb an i dnt know about u but if i had a quid 4 every time av bin offerd veggie lasange i wud b vvvv rich!

  10. most restaurants cook roast potatoes and yorkshire puds in animal fats, gravy is mixed with the meat juices If you are a proper vegetarian/vegan you won't eat it ethics

  11. I think because sometimes the roast potatoes and gravy have been made with meat products! You could ask next time to see if they have been. I'd love to be offered the opportunity to eat the lovely looking roasties they have but, like you say, am doomed to a life of miniscule portions (why do they think veggies need no protein?) and floppy bits of salad?

  12. they either do not have coooks in veg. specislity's.

  13. Well, I think that they are being pretty decent offering you additional options. If you wanted the roast you could always get the standard one and not eat the meat!

My beef is, however, that there is an expectation that we meat-eaters will supply options tailored to vegetarians, but there is never any expectation that vegetarians will offer options tailored to us.I'm not wanting to bleat too much about this, but being offered limp leafs and mashed nutty things doesn't have me scratching the ground with excitement!

  14. Roast potatoes are often cooked in meat fat, so that would be no good.  Also, I think they quite rightly assume that just vegetables and roast potatoes is a rather boring meal and so veggies wouldn't want that, and they make the effort to create a more interesting vegetarian dish instead.

  15. because that defeats the point of having it

  16. Roast potatoes are cooked in beef dripping, its good that they offer you something good!

  17. You can't be a real vegetarian if you don't know the answer to that one girl. The roasties are cooked in FAT

  18. cos its cooked in fat

  19. Your question makes no sense.

It cant be a roast without roast duh

    Order veggies
