Why does everybody hate morris dancing?

why does everybody hate morris dancing? i don't see what wrong with it... and why does everyone think it's g*y aswell? and wimpy?

I just find it annoying and pointless. People dressed up really silly hopping in circles and bashing sticks...

I think comedians make a living out of poking fun at it. And the general public join in.

Probably seeing a load of fellas dressed in white with coloured ribbons flapping about, prancing about with sticks might make some folk crack a smile. But each to their own.

I don't hate it, but it does all seem a bit fake sometimes. I get the impression of something that mattered to people a long time ago, on quite a sensual level.  But the stuff we get to see is just a pale copy, sanitised and jollied up, so it just seems rather pointless. To be fair though, I've never thought it was particularly camp (except, oddly, when women do it - that just doesn't seem right).
