Why does everybody think the Jets will be great with Favre?

Question

Just because they got a better QB doesn't mean their WR's or RB or O-Line got any better...and plus who knows if their defense can keep them in games when they are winning...I say at best they do 7-9...

I'm going with 7-9 as well. Their WR's aren't going to become that much better with an aging QB.

Because they went out and spent alot of money to get rebuild the team and their only real question mark was the QB spot with chad pennington and kellen clemmons. Now that they have Favre, they dont have to worry about the Qb spot cause even on his worst day Favre is better than Pennington. Also Thomas Jones is a solid RB and Jerico Cotchery had a good year last year  even with a bad QB so I cant wait to see what he does this year with a good QB. The oline just needs to give Brett enough time and the defense needs to be improved.

Not everyone thinks that way, but getting a Hall of Fame QB playing at an elite level can't be bad for the team. The Jets do have a fairly easy schedule, and should win some games in the regular season. I would think that the playoffs could be a possibility, but there's no way they can beat New England, Indy or San Diego. Not to mention Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Baltimore, Denver, I could go on and on.

They have a solid running back in Thomas Jones, and they made a few pickups on the O-Line which helped them greatly. A great quarterback working off of play action greatly increases the runners chances of gaining yards.

The Jets have improved on defense as well, adding bubba franks to the mix. Him and Jonathan Vilma will f stuff up.

I agree with you he didnt automatically make the Packers great there were years when they were bad too.

Actually the WR's would be better because the QB can throw better passes to them.

Brett can make the worst receivers look great. I don't know if the Jets are heading to the superbowl-- but I hope Brett has immediate success with the Jets-- so it can be slammed down McCarty's and Thompson's throats-- and they can go down in history for making the second worst trade in NFL history-- atlanta trading Brett to the Pack in 91 being the first.

well, their o-line did get a lot better, they added other parts in the offseason...i still see the jets as being a 7 to 9 win football team, but i think they will be much improved from last year for sure
