  1. b/c it rhymes. and it usually fits into the context pretty well.

    imagine if it was

    My Love

    Whom I will not shove

its hard to find good rhymes in context. if u want to change it go ahead and write a poem.

  2. Push and shove

    to find my love..

  3. the only other word off the top of myhead i can think of that rhymes with either of those words is glove...so yeah thats probably why

  4. Because they haven't learned any other way of rhyming other than end rhyme.

    My Love,

    you always shove

    me away in corners,

while you fancy your favorite shows.

For years now, my heart has hovered,

as you tend to rituals only loners should know.

I guess there are other ways if you think about it.

Plus, there's no need to rhyme either.

  5. Because they're novices honey child. I honesty think american needs a real best seller in poetry and I tend to give it to them. (Words from the Wise) is the title of my future poem book and the number one spot I strive to achieve.

And by some miraculous means you stumble upon a poem with the above title than that's all me baby and more to come.

  6. What a cute question.  I have to smile.  Let's think out loud:

    1.  Why do people rhyme them together?

They rhyme.  That's a fact, with or without anyone rhyming them.

    2.  Why love and above?:

Love is just about the highest reality in the human experience; it is ABOVE (meaning metaphysically loftier and more meaningful than) other feelings and actions in that it is just about the most important of them all--a motivator, a healer, a comforter, a peacekeeper, the cause of saving lives, of giving the best one has in oneself.  No?

BUT, I agree with you, so

    Let's see:

    3.  It sells Hallmark-type greeting cards.  It's corny and rhyme-timey.

    4.  It is EASY and comes quickly to lazy minds or to young people who are just getting started at attempting poetry.

    5.  And your inference is correct:  Why rhyme things at all?  I much prefer subtle, internal rhyme, myself, but we're not most people, I guess--or no rhyme at all, as in "How do I love thee?   Let me count the ways."

(And at the end I will give you the gift of one of my favorite love poems, some rhyme, some no-rhyme, definitely no love and above, definitely nothing conventional or schmaltzy....)

    And then there's:

    5.  Aw shucks, why not, if you like that kind of stuff?

    :-))))

    *From e. e. cummings

love is the every only god

who spoke this earth so glad and big

even a thing all small and sad

    man,may his mighty briefness dig

    for love beginning means return

seas who could sing so deep and strong

one queerying wave will whitely yearn

from each last shore and home come young

    so truly perfectly the skies

    by merciful love whispered were,

completes its brightness with your eyes

    any illimitable star

    .

  7. That line My love

    from heaven above

    this is great

    -

    What do you think of

    on Valentine's Day my love.
