Why does everyone assume that nuclear bombs will be used in world war 3?

Isn't it possible to fight world war 3 without nuclear bombs? Is it possible that maybe world war 4 will use the nukes? How many people here think world war 3 will occur (if it hasn't already begun) and end within the next 10-15 years?

I guarantee The United States is gonna get in the middle of the conflict with Russia and Georgia, So a world war 3 should spark and flush the United States right down the s*****r...

The answers on here, it is the same as the kids were saying in the 1960's. It hasn't happened yet and even though things look bad they are no way near as bad today as they were then.

Many people like Nostradamus (Spelling?) predict that inbetween 2010 and 2012 there will be WWIII which will be fought with nukes. Also the simple fact that both sides have nukes. Either side is not going to be willing to accept the fact that they lost when they have big enough weapons to change the outcome of the war no matter how its fought. Both sides have the same state of mind as america did against Japan, even though we lost a war fair and square, we are not ready to give in to what the other wants. I defintly think that there will be WW3 soon. The only way for us to avoid it would be to pull out of all countries we are in conflict with, and build a defense system to prevent invasion since our military is already very weakend.

I'm not sure they will be; both sides have them, so it's a very dangerous line to cross. Whoever uses them first will be demonised (and rightly so). They will never be forgiven, and it's issuing a licence for retaliation. Using a nuclear bomb on someone else is condemning yourself and your fellows.

It's not like aiming a rifle at another soldier. It's killing, not only thousands of soldiers with the push of a button, but also the civilians who perhaps opposed the war.
