ive looked at alot of their stuff and it all has great capabilitys and all their software is compatable with the windows counterpart and it all seems to work together seemlessly... which is alot more then any windows system will ever boast... along with the fact that its near impossible to get a virus on them how can anyone hate the apple computers?

  1. Because 94% of the world uses an IBM or clone and 6% of the world uses apple or mac.

    d;o)

  2. I have been into IT and technical services for over 26 years.

Owned/used in my business 16 PC computers in 12 years for me.

Have owned and used only 4 Macs in 12 years for me.

    Why?

Let us get a reality fix here.

    PC's need:

    Defragging because of slow downs.

AntiVirus software for - DUH - viruses.

Deep scans for Bots, Root Kits, Phishing, Spybot etc.

    Anti Virus updates.

Anti virus check every time on start up.

    Blue screens of death.

    Software updates from Windows.

Just had 11 updates this very freaking hour!

    Has updates to fix updates.

    Some updates kill your software.

    Drivers that must be updated.

    Hardware updates for OS changes.

Full OS reinstalls because of file loading errors.

    Lockups due to file incompatibilities.

    Mac's need:

    None of the above.

    By the way.

There are only (2) - yup count' em - (2) viruses for Mac's.

And those have to be actuated and installed by operator error!

Mac's have no problem with viruses because of the OS.

Can't be limited popularity as so many experts say.

Because Mac's are number (3) in sales.

12 of the 16 PC's have had to be replaced or upgraded.

All the Mac's are still working.

Vista runs faster on Mac's then almost ALL PC's!

Mac's only run PC software because it is cost effective.

If you have to buy a Mac, why also buy a PC?

For $350 for Vista Ultimate you get the worlds fastest Vista!

Macs are for people who need computers that never fail.

That work 100% of the time 24 hours a day.

    That can manipulate HUGE files.

MAC's come with audio/video editing software.

A REAL video editing suite - Standard.

They also come with a REAL audio editing suite - Standard.

Upper level Macs come standard with Digital Input/Output - Standard.

Macs also play games just fine with Parallels or VM Ware.

    Macs use Postscript printers.

    PC's can't even print reliably.

    Here is a sample.

Almost always PC PowerPoint will not print posters on a PC.

Guess where it will print from?

    MAC!

    How do I know this?

Because that is what I do as a living now over 12 years.

My customers are CalTech, The Plantary Society, The Geffen.

I MUST deliver on time, every time.

So if you value your data.

    If you value your time.

    If you want consistency.

If you want ease of use.

Remember, Macs' OS is the OS Vista failed to be!

If you want to save money in the long run - Go Mac.

If all you want is cheap performance.

Then that is just what you will get - CHEAP!

Mac's are NOT built for a price point.

They are built to be used for data.

If you go to school all year for a project, want to risk losing it?

If your business rides on it, want to risk losing it?

    I don't know about you.

But there have been many times where PC's have let me down.

Mac's have only done so twice - AND it was my fault.

Also think of all the off-line time that a PC has.

Remember most Mac's are way more equipped than PC's.

With ALL the software you will ever need already installed.

When matching CAPABILITIES they cost the same!

  3. MACs are overpriced and monopolistic.  There is nothing that a MAC can do that can't be done on a Windows machine, however there are lots of things that cannot be done on a MAC that can be done on a Windows computer.

MACs do get virus's and they do crash.  I have never had a virus on my Windows PC (18 years so far) because I don't go to shady places and open random email attachments.

Running windows apps on a MAC requires a virtual machine program or a copy of windows in a dual boot configuration.  Virtual machine environments are not efficient.  they are slow and subject to many more program failures.

Bottom line, I won't pay more for a computer that does less and limits what i can do.

  4. their just too complicated

  5. Good question, and one I've never fully understood after being both a Mac and Windows user for many years. After the past 5 years using only Windows (switched from Mac because I had to), I was issued a MacBook pro by work 6 months ago.

I absolutely love the Mac again and you'd have to fight pretty hard to make me give it up! But it took about a month to get into it. During that month I was missing a lot of what makes Mac OS really good. I had a whole bunch of the free built-in software on the machine, and didn't understand how to use it initially. It was a bit like being given a brand new car before I'd even learned to drive.

Macs are about twice the price of an apparently equivalent Windows machine, so it's easy to point and laugh at  Mac users being crazy. But seriously, once you get into it, it's fantastic. It's the software that makes the difference. Take iPhoto as an example. Everyone will tell you it's just the same as what's built in to Windows XP or Vista. I have used all of these extensively, and iPhoto is streets ahead. If you also add a mobileMe account, it is SO easy to publish selected photos to a website and they look really cool. To add a photo to your website, you click on it in iPhoto and click an icon to publish to web - and within a few seconds it's on your website. No complicated settings or anything.

Try finding a Mac user who has chosen to switch to Windows. It's not easy finding them! Apple's market share is growing - there are many users switching from Windows to Mac, and hardly any ever switch the other way.

There are just two applications I use that MUST run under Windows. They both work perfectly under VMware Fusion, a $50 application that allows me to start up Windows in a Mac window. Works great.

    Rob.
