  1. stop ranting and deal w/ it you sound like you're three. i've been there just move on ans stop stereotyping everbody just cuz they stereotype u

  2. The people who blame homeschooling for your dyslexia know nothing about either. I think a lot of PS kids are jealous because they they're just clued in enough to realise that you have a lot more free time than them. Or of course they're just idiots who like to bully anyone who is a bit different.

A big help with the spelling in places like this is to have a browser that spell checks as you type. I use Firefox and it helpfully underlines words in red when it thinks I've got them wrong. You have no idea how bad this post would be without that help! :-)

  3. Unfortunately, when people see any problem in a homeschooler's learning, even if it is something that would be there no matter what, they blame it on the homeschooling.

However, when they see the same problem in a kid who goes to public school, they tend to assume that it can't be helped.

You are experiencing this with your dyslexia, you would be dyslexic no matter where you were educated, the fact that you can read and write at all shows that you have been learning despite your learning disablity.  Its unfortunate that people assume homeschooling is the cause.

  4. Oh, brother.

  5. A lot really dont understand homeschool until they hear it from a homeschooled person, and even then they dont understand. And thats fine, Just dont hate me for being homeschooled. It makes children closer to there parents,Better learning skills (You dont have to deal with other children and you get more attention) And I dont have to get up at 6am to catch the bus, It makes my life less stressful and Happyier. I make lots of friends from local sport programs and the other kids around my town. I really think everyone sould try out homeschool for themselves to understand me.

  6. I love homeschool and so does my daughter! I am an adult, and I do not judge your choice to homeschool. I assume you chose to homeschool for a good reason. After all, it is easier to go with thew flow and attend public school. Being homeschooled shows that you care about your education and you are willing to break with convention to achieve the best quality education possible. Don't feel bad about being dyslexic. Some of the smartest, most talented people I know are dyslexic.

  7. Home schooled or not, it's apparent you failed spelling class.

  8. Because people hold homeschoolers up to much higher standards than public schoolers.

Public schooled kids are allowed to be shy, awkward or socially withdrawn, they are allowed to be goths, geeks, bullies, jocks, brains, etc., they are allowed to be slow, learning disabled, having problems in a subject area or coming along slowly or even not coming along well at all, schooled kids can be violent or socially inept or hate school or disrepsectful to adults without anyone looking sideways at the school.

Homeschooled kids are not allowed to have even minor flaws, or average grades, or any problems, or everyone goes into an uproar about how they need to send the child to school.

Once the homeschooled child is in school, though, he is not entitled to be as imperfect as the other schooled kids, because he was homeschooled and everyone thereafter will tell him that all his problems and personality flaws and educational shortcomings were due to the fact that he was homeschooled at some point.

  9. because u get really bored with not many friends

  10. Just because you are home schooled doesn't mean anything you have to have a want to learn!! My step son begs me to home school him and frankly if I could I would with all the bad stuff in public schools these days I wish I had the time so you are fortunate to have that... But if you are having a hard time learning I understand I to had a hard time learning and still strive to improve myself just hang in there not everything us adults say is always true some adults are ignorant I am sure you are very smart you just might need a little extra attention!! Hang in there kid!!!

  11. Actually people who get homeschooled (like me) are said to be very smart. Again, i'm still working on my social skills and i do get lonely sometimes but i try not to think about it. With homeschooling you can go at your own pace... which is really nice.

  12. It's not that people 'hate' homeschool, it's the fact that not everyone understands it (how it works, what's involved) and some simply don't 'agree' with it.

Yes I have seen cases where homeschool is claimed and it's not happening, but these are people who should have never become parents in the first place (self absorbed,  druggies). Sad to say that these 'people' give TRUE homeschoolers a bad image.

Nobody is like anybody else and a world where everybody is the same is not a world it's a NIGHTMARE and for many reasons would not even work.

Every person has skills in different areas and the only way to better oneself is to try with all your might to be the best that you can.

Go back and look at your writing (no I'm not picking on you)....I know that MOST people start typing and don't stop to think about how something is spelled, they simply spell it how it sounds and some MEAN one word but write something shorter (sometimes called shorthand) which can translate into an entirely different word.....now READ what you wrote as if YOU were the TEACHER (when you look at things thru someone else's eyes it can take on a whole new light).

***This is simply constructive critisim***** Someone once said " When you use big words and spell them right the world falls at your feet. But when you use little words and spell them wrong they call you dumb"

The smartest person in the world can sit there and spout off all he knows, but the minute he WRITES one little word wrong he's labeled a moron.

Also think about this.... Anne Sullivan-Macy who was the life long Teacher/Companion to Helen Keller had to carry a dictionary around with her and look words that she didn't know up BEFORE she spelled them into Helen's hand (what that poor women went through when Helen got accepted into Radcliff College).

Look the point is you ARE NOT dumb. A little rushed in your writing but never dumb and the next time someone makes a remark to the contrary just say to them  ' I'm not dumb, I'm the Thomas Edison of the 21st Century' and then walk away.

I recently had someone make a remark to my daughter when she mentioned that she was homeschooled that 'Homeschooling is Illeagle'.. I turned around threw my arm up in the air and said 'Seich Heil'  and when the person took a step back I said ' Oops sorry thought I was in Germany for a moment there'. People in the checkout line I was in starting laughing and I avoided an arguement.

**side note*** Thanks to a man named Adolf Hitler it was and  is still to this day illeagle to homeschool in the country of Germany...he wanted everyone to think what HE wanted them to think and thinking for yourself was HIGHLY discouraged.

  13. Home school is boring coz your LONELY! :(

  14. idk, you know that california is trying to make homeschooling, and private schools illegal, by saying that all teachers, have to have gone to school for teaching, and have their credentials?

  15. Many people are very closed minded and only accept that which they want to. You cannot change everyone's minds. You can only be the best you that you can be. You can also be the best representative of your role as a homeschooler. I can understand that you have dyslexia which would lead to some issues with your spelling. However had you posted this using capital letters, and applied spell check to it you would have come across as a more intelligent person and gotten better answers.

Also, don't worry about what people think. Either they accept you or they don't. Those that don't you don't need in your life. If it is someone who has to be in your life (for example a relative) sometimes it is just better to say "I understand your concerns and will discuss it with Mom." and leave it at that!

  16. BECAUSE OF HOMEWORK

  17. Well, your grammar could use some improvement. Everyone was a kid at one point or another, you learn from your mistakes and from your failures, even as adults we make mistakes and do things we regret. But kids need to learn the basics and thats why they're treated with little respect. Learn, and grow.

  18. Everyone doesn't hate homeschool.  But everyone has a right to be concerned about the future of education in this country.  Education, whether homeschool, public or private is only as good as the person doing the teaching and the resources they have available to them.  Not every teacher is a good teacher and not every parent is qualified to be a teacher.  Let's look at you for example. This paragraph you have written shows problems with spelling, punctuation, and grammar.  There could be a lot of reasons for this.  You claim the problem is that you are dyslexic.  If your were in a public or private school would you have better access to resources to deal with your dyslexia and to learn in spite of it?  Does the person educating you have training in working with dyslexia?  These are important questions.  The problem I see with homeschooling is that most parents will reach a point in the education of their child where the parent does not have the knowledge to teach the subject.  When this happens, it limits the child's ability to excel in that area and is a detriment to the child's future.  The other thing I have seen is parents who homeschool and who run into financial problems that prevent them from obtaining adequate resources to use in homeschooling.  Again, it is the child's education and thus the child's future that suffers.  This is why I am against long term homeschooling.

  19. Oh..Homeschooling...

Its boring and dull so everyone hates it.

What makes it dull and boring is that you have to study under the nose of your parents. They will force you to study and you can just listen and do nothing. But at school, there are a lot of people in a class so classmates can chat will each other and laugh softly for a little one during the lesson and the teacher won't notice easily.

  20. Mostly because they don't understand what is going on. They easily believe the old stereotypes that say that home schoolers are cloistered sheltered little kids who have no social skill and are completely naive. Well the simple fact is that most home schoolers are out going social people, most are not as naive as some would think. I know my cousins that were home schooled are pretty normal. My kids are home schooled, my niece and 4 nephews are home schooled and they are all pretty normal.

What's not normal is the amount of drugs, and s*x teens are involved in. To be normal in High School you must be involved in some sort of behavior that their parents taught them not to get into. I remember my mom saying don't do drugs, do have s*x until your married. I also remember that to keep my popularity status I did pot and had s*x. Why because I wanted to be accepted. The funny thing is I married my high school sweet heart and 10 years later I have contact with 3 of my classmates. After graduation life changed. I realized I wasn't ready for the real world. I had to clean up and live right. Within one year of graduation I quit all the bs and started raising our oldest child.

I realized that if I want her to avoid the pit falls of public schools I had to keep her out of them. She was in second grade when I pulled her. She is dyslexic (can't help genetics) and all I can do is help her to learn what she needs. So I read everything to her after she has read it so that there is a good understanding of the concepts that is taught.

Do you have a good spell check? you can get one free at iespell.com It will place it on the top of your screen so that no matter where you are you have it.

  21. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
