  1. Hi Billboard...even though I expect to report me for no reason as usual..I will answer anyways... some people might see my answer before you report me...

Your posts seem to be frivolous and not really martial arts based at all.. this site isn't a chat site ... it is meant to be for posting and answering honest questions.

I enjoy the Flinstones and have always loved the line "Well aint that a kick in the head" which came from Fred and Barney. And I have also made the Judo Chop jokes..but again.... they do not belong here as serious questions...and not with your stories of using it in a fight...

So..we do not hate the Judo Chop...we just don't want this potentially useful medium to be ruined by posts like these...

  2. Judo doesn't really have a 'chop'. That was something that the writers of Austin Powers made up as a result of not knowing much about martial arts. Judo has throws, locks, chokes, and take downs, but no chops. The judo chop is probably more annoying to someone who practices judo than it is to someone who studies a different style. I like Combat Judo and Gene LaBell's Judo.

  3. Cause its dumb an someone thought it up just so they look cool an other people would seem to know a part of martial arts,  then they get there *%$ kicked cause they fight with people who know how to do real martial arts.

  4. hate it? I LOVE it!

An Danger Powers does it the best.

  5. Those of us that have been practicing the martial arts for many years know that there is no techniques called a "Judo Chop". What you are talking about is called a Shuto or knife hand. And although it is used in Judo and Karate experienced martial artists would never call it that.

  6. I don't know who you mean by everyone.  The one who gets hit with it or the one that using it.  It's still very popular amongst some Martial artists when demonstrating their ability to break boards, bricks and mortar although, the fist has replaced a great deal of that.  Karate' means open hand and therefore the chop was mostly used in hand to hand combat.  Of course to master the art, you must toughen the side of the hand with callous.  Perhaps that's what you mean.  Anyway...........
