Why does everyone hate the spurs outside of san antonio?

i am a die hard spurs fan, and have been since i was a kid. i hear that we are dirty, which i find ridiculous. and that we are boring, but hey when you win i guess i dont really care how boring it is. so i wanted to see if there were anymore reasons why

San Antonio isn't dirty, but Bowen is.  That said, honestly, the only bandwagon bigger than a fairweather team bandwagon is the anti-fairweather team bandwagon.  San Antonio seems to win every odd year, and fans of other teams like to have a little bit more of that spotlight.  Not that I'm rooting for the Spurs, but I respect most of that team's play and hope to see another Spurs/Lakers WCF.

i dont hate the spurs, i like them. but yes most people perceive the spurs as a dirty team when actually only bowen is. there is no denying it, it is on tape, times when he purposely slid his foot under the shooter. just ask ray allen and vince carter. and i think there was the kicking the going incident with the suns if i remember correctly. also people think the spurs are boring because theyre not flashy and tim duncan is so plain and monotonous. and im sure many people dislike ginobili for his constant whining and complaining and flopping. like i said, ginobili is a guy you love to hate but would love to have on your team.

people who call the spurs dirty or boring are just envious of the success the spurs have this decade. bowen may be dirty sometimes but not often, he just plays aggressive defense and the task of guarding the best players in the league will bring you more hate from fans of those players bcoz he is at times successful in defending those players. Manu is a guy any team in the planet wants to have, you may hate him as a spur but im sure when he comes to play for your team, you will like hjim for his warrior spirit and winning attitude. Duncan should be the NBA's ambassador, not Kobe or Lebron.

I don't hate the spurs, i find them a very enjoyable team actually. I actually find Manu flopping and Bowen's dirty play to be pretty entertaining. Outside of that, they are somewhat boring, but that doesn't mean they aren't effective. I find Tim's style of play to be somewhat elegant because it is so simple and effective. Also, when they can get out on a break, Manu and Tony run it beautifully.

personally, my second FAVORITE team is the Spurs...and my overall league favorite is Tim Duncan, who plays the game the way my favorite team of all time ('86 Celtics) played it, SMART, passionately (with emotions under CONTROL) and fundamentally correctly...Tim could have fit into that lineup with NO problem and about 90% of his peers would have been sent packing by Red for being either SELFISH or having a HUGE fundamental flaw in their games...

btw. I have visited SA (and Austin as well and you live in a GREAT place...the FIFTY FOOT cliffs on both sides of the Interstates for rain run-off are a little daunting for a Boston yankee though  - lol!)...

You honestly think your team's not dirty? Bruce Bowen is the dirtiest player in the league. Ma nu is going to go bankrupt next season from flopping. The only reason the Spurs won their series against the Suns two years ago was from a dirty play by Robert Horry.

but people don't like the spurs recently because of their hack a shaq strategy used alot these playoffs.

I live in Arizona so Im obviously a suns fan. I dont HATE the spurs. I just dont like bowen or horry. I love Parker and Duncan. BTW It was sweet seeing Tim Duncan make that 3 against us in the playoffs

The two most heard reasons are that they are a dirty team and that they are boring. I disagree with both. The Spurs are aggressive defensively, but as a team they are not dirty. Bruce Bowen is a relatively dirty player, but that doesn't mean the whole team is. It's sort like how the Pistons used to be with Bill Laimbeer. People just get irritated because they're good.

Secondly, I don't find the Spurs boring at all. Probably because I'm a Pistons fan and I don't find them boring either and they play similar styles. It's very simple, not very flashy but effective basketball and it works.
