Why does everyone in church yawn?

So I went to church yesterday for a funeral, my dad's second cousin I think. Man was it BORING!

Anyway, as the priest was talking and whatnot and started looking around the church, at the people and noticed that everyone was.... yawning, I mean, I expect just a few people...but EVERYONE?

I was too, but obviously I felt like this wasn't necessary and whatever the priest was saying is complete bullshit.

But why was everyone yawning simultaneously?

Everybody was yawning because the priest had turned it into a dry old speech that should have been alive with the thoughts of Heaven, h**l, Jesus, salvation, and God.

I had a friend of mine one time tell me that he was going to go to church on Easter. I said that I was proud of him. I told him I hoped he enjoyed it. (Not my church but one closer to his house)

He came back Monday and told me that the minister was killing him with boredom. He said he spent an hour talking about that stupid stone that was rolled away.

I'm telling you I felt like calling that minister and chewing him out. People labor over going to church or not and when they decide to go they meet someone like that.

That's not what God is like. Heaven is full of LIFE. Heaven isn't boring. Singing! Rejoicing! Praising! Talking to old friends that have made it.

Asking questions. Getting answers. A mansion!!!!! No tears. No death. Life!!!!  ETERNITY!!!  Happiness!

And some guy turn that all into mush with an hour sermon about the rock that was rolled away. Wow.

After reading this question and looking at all the other answers, i just HAD to yawn, and am yawning as I speak.

So I'm guessing one person was bored spitless, started to yawn, somebody saw him yawn, and then boom. it's a yawn fest.

Maybe the place was lack of 02. That's why we yawn in the first place. They really need to let the air in that place.

The sight of somebody yawing can quite often be the stimulus to yawn.

We don't yawn a lot in my church. If your church is boring, it may because you aren't being spiritually challenged there. Look around.

Yawns are contagious, once you see someone or hear someone yawn, you yawn, then so does the next person, etc. etc. etc....
