Why does everyone keep insisting Carlos Vela is a natural forward?

I've been watching him ever since he joined Osasuna last year and so far of what he's played with Arsenal this year, and in my own humble opinion, it seems to me that Carlos Vela is nowhere near a natural goalscorer. I see him playin' a role as a midfielder, because if you see him playing, he is a lot more productive coming in from behind as opposed to being up front scoring the goals, in my eyes, he is more of a mid, he just comes in with more speed and makes less mistakes. He's not the same when he's playing against 17 year olds as he is against mature players who will definetly know how to neutralize him. This is where the question comes in, "Who should play with Vela up forward?" Honestly, I don't see any room for Vela to be starting in the Seleccion yet, you got Omar Bravo, Borgetti (not so much), Guille Franco, and Nery Castillo who have more jerarquia than he does no matter if he's playing in Arsenal. It ain't about what club you play for, it's how U play. I don't see room for him as a starter because in my eyes he is a mid and you have Torrado or Pardo, Guardado (unmovable), and in my eyes, the best Mexican right midfielder is Fernando Arce who is unmovable to me, no matter if Giovani is with the Seleccion or not. So that's why I ask this question, and I know it's about opinions, but from my point of view, Why do people keep asking, "Who will be up on top with Vela?" I'm a fan of Vela, but I just don't see any room for him or enough jerarquia to be starting yet. I don't think Vela is starter material for the seleccion at all yet. This would be who I would put starting against Honduras. (In my opinion, and just based on actual seleccionados). What's your opinion, tell me why U think Vela is or isn't a natural forward.

I think Arsene Wenger would know more about his players' postions than you. I'm not trying to diss on you or anything but if he was a natural midfielder, I think one of his professional coaches would have seen that in him and put him there. He is in Arsenal because they like how he played as a striker not midfielder. Plus he is doing good with the position he is in right now. Sorry, again, for any confusion but I'm not trying to diss you and i respect your opinion

Well, you do see him score in a lot of his games with Arsenal and Mexico. I saw a couple games when he was in Osasuna and he played good but if Arsene Wenger wants him as a Striker  and he is scoring then i have to say we should see more of his games and we will know whats up.

I guess its because that was his position when we won the U-17 World Cup, so everyone is use to seeing him there

yeah your right, I mean i saw almost all his games in goltv with Osasuna, and he played most of the time in the right wing, so I see him like Hleb from Arsenal when he left. I mean he has a knack for scoring goals, but he plays better in the right.

I mean Torrado and Leandro will be fighting for that spot, and Cuau i dont think he will complete the whole 90 so gio would  be a great sub. And guardado may be substituted for vela or vela for either Bravo orm Franco which I am sure on of them are going to play.

Vela is a forward he is alot like a David Villa type of forward he moves quick his dribbling has gotten better and he has that quick release

with Osasuna he always wasn't sure of himself out wide at times he tried to push for the quick touch and lose the ball because he is a very talented player he could play different positions but a winger is not his natural position

with Chivas he was a forward that's how he started his career when he moved to Arsenal and with 2 Salamanca on loan he played as a forward and very well also he was there top scorer so he has been a forward for almost his whole career he is still very young he is nowhere near the finish project

u got some great points man. here my opinion: arsene wenger said that he is a natural stricker and he compares him to Eduardo, the croatian who is a beast. i think he hasnt been producing at the stricker position because he is still young, he needs alittle bit more time to mature, and develop that stricker killer instinct to score goals. but he is great with assists. i agree with u, he is not ready to start with teh seleccion, but i do believe he should play. hes definetly my first choice sub.

2nd question. i think that ochoa isnt ready to start goalie. him and oswaldo are great but oswaldo is more of aleader and talks to the defense, ochoa is quiet and sometimes the defense falls asleep on him. i would play a 4-4-2 or a 4-4-1-1

osorio(hes slackin, i like how oscar rojar played the last game, but i give osorio the benefit of the doubt)

magallon-(el hombre the hierro, he has been one of the more consistent players on the team over the past year)

rafa marquez-(definetley a great team captain and UNMOVABLE)

salcido-(this guy is a beast and UNMOVABLE

MIDFIELD

arce-(arce has been a real consisntet player on teh team and hes virtually UNMOVABLE)

Pardo-(this guy is definetly a guy i want in the center of my midfield, he is so accurate with his passes and i think hes UNMOVABLE

torrado-(hes our most defensive mid and he definetely recovers many balls, i like how he is willing to go hard at all times and i think hes UNMOVABLE)

FORWARRDS

this is were the problem comes in cuz we really dont have stand outs. we can start with two forwards like nery and bravo, then sub vela in there. but nery wasnt called up so i would like to see bravo and cuauhtemoc behind him. then sub bravo for vela and gio for blanco.

he may start some plays from the back but thats just the ways he plays hes more comfortable in the wings

vela should be left forward and nery should be right next to him

I think Carlos Vela's best position is left forward. Not left wing or striker but Forward. He likes to have some space to move around before he shoots. If you've seen what he has done with Arsenal and what Arsene has said, he IS a natural goalscorer.

BTW on your formation: There is no need for two defensive midfielders. Didn't you see how that was bad when Hugo was in charge? It would clog up the midfield and Torrado would lose balls constantly. Hopefully Sven will just start Pardo and have him be the only DM like he is at Stuttgart.

Vela was born to be a natural striker however in Osasuna he was used as a winger and now he's being used as a forward. He is adjusting to the position, he hasn't played in quite awhile. Remember he's 19 and if Wenger after awhile realizes he doesn't want him as a striker he'll move him but I think Vela will stay in that position because that's why they bought him in the first place. He will gain experience and make less mistakes, and I do believe the Club you play for does matter because the bigger the club the more pressure you learn to handle. Look at Vuoso in Santos, with all due respect, he never had much pressure but he moves to America and he failed completely so he went back to Santos. So that's why people are asking will he be able to handle the pressure that comes with being part of the national team? So lets give Vela time and opportunities. Ask this same question 2 years from now, and with all due respect I think Vela might prove you wrong.

Nah I'm pretty sure he is a forward. He wasn't doing as good on Osasuna because he was used as more of a winger than a forward. He did good enough though. Now that he is being used as a forward on Arsenal he seems to be doing pretty well. I'm not trying to diss you or anything but why are you putting Bravo as the Striker? You should know better than anyone else that he is not a natural goalscorer and he plays better behind the main striker, who should be Vela. If anything I'd rather have Vela upfront and Bravo behind him.

I agree, he doesnt have that fortaleza to push forward like others do. But I do think he is a forward. I think he would be good in a 1-2 forward lineup.
