  1. I think you have misunderstood the term "smark".  Please allow me to briefly explain:

A "mark" is a wrestling fan, one who cheers and boos for the ones he or she feels deserve it, suspends his or her disbelief for the duration of the show, and just generally enjoys the show.

A "smart mark" is a "mark" who has some understanding of the "backstage stuff" i.e. how the stunts are accomplished without injuries, who gets titles pushes, and the like.

A "smark" is an internet wrestling critic who devours spoilers, usually doesn't watch the actual wrestling shows, but when he or she does it is only to find fault with the performers, the storylines, the show itself.  "Smarks" are generally condescending, arrogant, rude, and think they know more than the rest of us.

To answer your question:  most fans do appreciate all styles of wrestling, especially if a particular performer is skilled in a particular style.  Example:  Batista is a good brawler, I do not expect him to mat wrestle like Bret Hart, nor do I expect him to fly around like Jushin Liger.  Brawlers are not my favorite but I do appreciate that Batista is a skilled brawler and I generally enjoy his matches.

If you notice the "who's the best wrestler of all-time?" type questions, almost always you find Bret Hart, Chris Benoit, and Kurt Angle topping those lists.  The three best technical wrestlers of the last three decades.  Everybody, whether they are fans of those three or not, recognizes and applauds the stellar skills they possess(ed).

It is really only Batista and John Cena who get roasted and lambasted for their perceived lack of skills.  Neither are Bret Hart or Jushin Liger; they are brawlers, that is their job and their role in the WWE.  And believe it or not, most "smarks" understand that and do not overly bash those two for not being technical marvels.

I think you may misjudged "smarks" a bit (no offense).  They don't really overly criticize wrestlers for not being technical marvels so much that they just criticize everything about wrestling in general.  They go into great detail about a wrestling match and the performers involved, listing how each one of them "screwed up".  On the surface it appears that they are criticizing their lack of wrestling skills, but really they just criticize everything harshly.  "Smarks" (internet wrestling critics) do not like wrestling (or at least will never admit it), and to appear "smarter" than the rest of us, sneer, scoff, and laugh at everything about wrestling and those of us who actually enjoy the shows.

Most fans generally judge each performer on his (or her) own merits and the role they play in their company, and don't really care how technically skilled each wrestler is.

"Smarks" are not wrestling fans; they are internet critics.

  2. Technical wrestling is more or less an elitist thing for smarks. They think that if they like technical wrestling, it makes them seem smarter or something. The fact of the matter is that high-flying, brawling, all styles of wrestling are good. You don't need mat wrestling to be good, sometimes a huge brawl can be just as good if not better.

However, of all wrestling styles, technical wrestlers seem to have a better grasp of good wrestling. It's not a given, but often you'll find a technical styled wrestler to be at least decent.

  3. Not everyone likes technical wrestling.

However, for those who like it in Professional Wrestling, they just prefer it over other styles. Not speaking for anyone else, but I prefer technical wrestling because it's more realistic and it displays more skill than other styles of wrestling do IMO.

I know others will beg to differ, which is expected, but I believe being technical and keeping people interested in you is a very difficult task in Professional Wrestling, and I respect those who use the style and get fame from it.
