  1. I feel the same about Rugby it is so boring but then I don't understand the rules.

So I suppose it depends on whatever floats your boat and for me its Aussie rules.

  2. If you live in Australia it is so good but obviuosly you don't because you would hardly see games.

See in australia their isn't much rugby so most people hate it same with outsiders with afl.

  3. I'ts a great SMASH MOUTH sport

  4. Not me Rach, Rugby Union for me.

  5. AFL? Heck it's all about NFL!!! :)

  6. Well I prefer soccer(football) more but most Australians love footy because it's pretty much our own national sport

  7. I guess I'm lucky I have never even heard of it,Aren't I Rach? ☺

  8. theres so much excitement and never know which way the game will go. (of course unless you're versing melbourne or bulldogs we all know what'll happen)

Plus just the whole atmosphere at the game

The best stadium in the world MCG featured every week!

  9. I think you are heavily influenced by your dad.I might be wrong, but if your dad, doesn't like The AFL, then you will never really get to like the game. I love it, I think its the best game ever played. My wife hated footy before she met me, now she is an avid Crow's supporter. She loves it. Who knows... one day, you may become a footy follower.

The reason's why I love my footy........Its played at a cracking pace, the high flying grabs, the long shots at goal, the high's and low's of seeing my team and finally the Footy Tips.

The worst part about Aussie Rules footy....The rules are always changing. It's ridiculous. Its the only sport i know, that the rules change every year.

  10. It's Australia's main sport and it does get a little boring when there is no good scores.

  11. I prefer Super 14 and NRL foremost.  I'll watch AFL from time to time.  Here in the ACT, Rugby is king and AFL hardly rates a mention.

Penny - What's slower, the Swans chipping the ball all over the backline or Benji Marshall's dazzling running skills?  Watch the running of Marshall, Inglis or Bowen and then come and talk to me.

Quandry - Good point about fans being fair weather.  I agree with you.  However my point was to illustrate that AFL will never get a foothold here in the ACT whilst we have Super 14 and NRL.  AFL are best to stick to guest apperances at Manuka Oval.  I'd love to see an A League team.

  12. AFL is not a sport its a religion,

  13. Aussie rules football is a great sport for all ages. and it's

great to cheer a great club who is performing well and            getting  goals and great tackles on the oposition and

  14. i prefer rugby league to Aussie rules

    the afl is very frustrating

    rule changes every year

the commission obsessed with making it a world game when no other country really gives a toss about it

  15. As a kid growing up in Melbourne you wanted to do 2 things when you got older, play Cricket for Australia and play Football AFL for the team you support.. The reason is simple it's the greatest Football around AFL (in my opinion)

    - Go Hawks

  16. Reasons to love AFL :-)

1 Fills in rainy week-ends with action packed entertainment

    2 It's AUSTRALIAN

3 The players are hotter than any other code!

4 It brings communities together in loyal support of their team

5 Fast paced- Once you're hooked there's no return to the slow paced NRL or Union

6 There are NO reasons not to love it !

  17. I play it and it is fun and there is different game instead of rugby where there is just two teams running at each other and maybe a big tackle here and there but there are some good tackles in afl to...i dont like watching it but love playing it

    Go the brisbane lions!!!

  18. I love AFL,but then again I can watch any sport.

I even love watching Golf,Lawn Bowls and Synchronized swimming.lol

    Go Kanga's!!!!

  19. Nah Moo - reckon you're wrong!  Here in Canberra Rugby has only been king while the Brumbies were on top.  Crowds are already falling.

The Raiders and Cannons had the same experiences.  Too many fair weather supporters (and none of those three teams looked after their members while they were on top so you can't just blame supporters).

Why do I love it?  I think to appreciate it you have to have been to a high quality live game (it doesn't work anywhere near as well on tele) or have played the game.  It's fast but the main thing is when teams go well, the way they coordinate every action so guys start running 150 metres away from the ball and end up in the right spot to kick the goal.  It's also seriously tough which is another thing that doesn't come across on tele.  When you hear the hits, you know what's involved.

  20. If it`s anything like American football, then it`s a rough, and tumble game. That`s the kind that men like.

  21. It might be a social or cultural thing. Where I am from its all rugby rugby, and when I went to the uk people were like rugny - what? They were into their football there. When I visited my cousin in Brisbane, her and family again were really into the AFL. Not me... bored me to tears. I didn't understand the different rules, yet I can happily watch rugby with my mates at home.

Maybe regional pride, national pride and socialisation are the big part of it for me. Not the game so much.

  22. Its a contact sport and its just good 2 see the players play rough and also so u can rub it in to some1 if their team lost

  23. A game anybody can play, big or small, will one day take the world by storm, one day.

  24. I like watching because I grew up watching it. I think its a really unique sports and it keeps me on the edge of my seat while watching. I think its just a great game

  25. Have you bothered to watch a game on a Friday night without the influence of your Dad?

We love it because its the most exciting football game in Australia.

  26. I don't hate it, but its not worth watching in Sydney unless the Swans are playing.  I prefer Rugby League as I have played it and my kids play it.  AFL has many good points, but I certainly hate the off the ball incidents and cheap shots.  For those who keep calling Rugby League just Rugby there are 2 versions of Rugby, League and Union.  League is faster and Union has too many rules that makes it slower.  AFL is faster than both but just can't grab my attention and has too many players on the field.

  27. Not everyone Loves it so much!

I guess it depends on where you grew up, I grew up in NSW so I really didn't know anything about AFL and to be honest I still don't...besides the fact that we have a team in it called the Swans.

In saying that I am a HUGE NRL fan (GO the Knights!), but that is what I Grew up on.

Maybe to see why everyone else loves it so much you/(me too) should pick a team and go to a local game and see for yourself. As there is nothing quiet like being there in person.

Take care, Great question by the way!

  28. its just a great game

  29. as if you get bored.

like i've grown up going to footy matches.

    lol

for instance i HATE rugby :P

    catch ya
