  1. It's a reminder for some people that they want to stay pure until marriage, like one answerer said it's like a wedding band, it's not necessary.  I think it's great if you want to wear one but if not, that's okay.

  2. It's simply a fad. And a fad parents like for once. They haven't become big at my school and only a few Christians wear them.

  3. i completely agree with you.

you dont need a ring to tell you what to do.  if a ring can control you, imagine what an actual person could do!! =)

    do whatever feels right.

    have fun♥

  4. I have a purity ring and a purity necklace and i've had one since I was in 3rd grade.I love them. " They (the purity rings)are awesome" Well my bf who recently moved to colorado for 2 yrs have mathcing ones and btw: all 3 of the jonas brothers have one.

  5. I think saving yourself is a very personal decision.  I agree that just because the decision is made not to have s*x before marriage, doesn't mean you should advertise it with a purity ring.

I have known people who wear such rings become bigger targets for boys as there is nothing better for them then to get someone to break their vow of celebacy.

If you are happy with your decision, then that is great - my sister is also 13 and isn't getting the ring

  6. You may know your descions but a purity ring is there to remind you and to remind other people.

  7. I think it's just to remind the teen about what is right and wrong about s*x. See, my church makes us sign these cards saying that we wont have s*x till marriage. I didn't sign one cause I know im not going to follow it. I wish most teens would think about it, instead of just putting on on for the fun of it.

  8. I dont need a ring to prove my vows.

I find its just a cute way to remember your vows, and to remind others.

You dont NEED one, but some people just like them.

I'm hoping to get one soon, and then i'm planning on going to our church and getting it blessed by our priest.

Most of my friends are getting them, i dont just want one because its cool, i want one because it reminds me too keep that promise.

  9. Yeah I agree. Its a bit of a fad. A ring on your hand however is a tangible reminder of what is in your heart. However if everyone is doing it many will do the same just to go with the crowd...Just like they will have s*x when everyone else is doing it if they didn't make a real decision in their heart.

I waited until I was married, and it was hard to go against the flow. And yet if you really want to wait its not something you can just give away lightly either. You certainly don't need a ring on your finger to ensure that you meet this goal. It is just a physical symbol. However if it is your goal you need to stregthen your resolve and for some people a physical symbol is a way to do this - a reminder.

  10. its a new trend. i don't take trends seriously, they come ago....meaning this doesn't have any value. everyone wears them b/c disney stars promot them. its just an advertising technique. i mean why do you have to wear a ring to prove ull wait til marriage?

  11. I agree with you.  When the fad started, it wasn't that big of a deal.

I guess it's because now that some Disney stars have them, every kid wants one.  It just kinda bothers me that, in like..every article the Jonas Brothers are in, some news reporter brings up the fact that they wear purity rings.  Why is it such a big deal? Yes, when they were young they made a personal decision to save themselves for marriage.  It's really none of our business, anyways! It's just that one day, some person noticed they all wear rings and asked what they are for.

    I don't see why it's such a huge deal.

  12. It's not that we need one to tell us what to do, we just like making our intentions clear. It shows our friends and the people we date that we are serious about it. For me, it helps advertise my faith too.

It's kind of like a wedding ring. You don't need a wedding ring to tell you that you're married, but it's a symbol of promise that you made, and it helps you remember that.

  13. The only reason that it is probably a 'fad'

is because Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers

wears them. I'm not so sure about the other

brothers but Nick Jonas wears a purity ring

and many girls love him. That is most likely

people are getting these purity rings.
