Why does everyone say this about Petco?

I dont believe this saying, but,

Everyone, weather it be online, or in real life, keeps saying 'Petco, where the pets go, to die.'

!?!?! whats that about?

Petco kills animals? :(

Petco sells animals from breeding mills. They are usually sick.

They only care about money not the health of the animals that they sell. I have seen so many animals be sold and die or dead animals in cages in their store! I try to not go there to buy anything! I only go if theres a sell on dog beds,clothes or treats!

Most Petco, well most big time pet stores don't take care of their animals properly so they are usually sick. Like most of their snakes suffers from respiratory infection and their hamster/birds don't last to long cause they are sick, my hamsters always dies from there. Also my birds. So I wouldn't recommend buying pets from Petco or Petsmart or Perfect Pets or any other chain pet stores.

But why would you go and kill another animal though? Like I always said, adoption saves a wonderful and beloved pet while buying kills another pet in need.

I do shop there but only for food, treats, toys, or beddings.

They only really care about the money, not the pets/animals. That's why they rip you off on the pets/animals there. A ball python is $80-90 when you can just adopt one for about $25 Their hamsters are about $10-20 when you can just adopt one from a SPCA for $5. (you're also saving an animal too) I would always recommend to adopt your pet then buying, it's worth it and should make you feel better since you're saving a life.

Petsmart/Petco have made news a lot lately for allowing their companion animals to become ill and/or die in the store at an alarming rate.  They have also both made news for having grooming dogs die in the salon or escape and die in the parking lots.
