Question:

Why does everyone think Lesnar is something great?

They hyped him up saying does he have what it takes to fend off someone with a ground game...Obviously not...other than that Mir hasn't won a fight since his accident, not quite what I consider top competition, but hey maybe he can beat Ken Shamrock, and if not everyone will talk about how great a fighter Ken is and how he is on top of the game right. Here is another good fight for him Tank Abbot

  1. is this a serious question? or are you joking?

if you are joking then dont feel bad its hard to convey humor over text. and if this is serious then do feel bad and learn more about mma.

  2. May be Elite and UFC have something in common after all.  It is called marketing.  Some of you want to be smart guys don't understand the business end of the fight game.  You have to hype up fighters and us recognizable names to sell pay per view, venue tickets, and get TV ratings.  I am a Longtime MMA fan.  What is happening now for MMA is a result of dull characters in boxing and America's Love for blood.  Our troops are receiving MMA training, this is also making more people get involve as competitors.  Half of America does not know who Briann Stann is, but every Marine can tell you.   Don't forget Dana White's job is to make money.  That is why Lesnar and Kimbo are where they are.

  3. Not everybody thinks that Lesnar is great.  He's certainly famous.  He's certainly huge.  He can certainly sell tickets.  And he has a lot of potential since he was a top All American wrestler.

Quite frankly, I don't think he's great.  I don't think that he's the read deal, as of now.  But, he has potential.  I hope he lives up to his potential.

  4. I'm glad someone brought this up...Lesnar is being accepted by the fans, and yes, he was a collegiate wrestler. That's what MMA fans respect. But then he went into show wrestling. And he was a champ there. But it was all fake! Then he goes into a much hyped debut in MMA and he LOSES! Yes, he was thrown to the wolves and facing a former champ off the bat.  The holes in his game were exposed. But virtually no one has a problem with Lesnar being hyped.

Then there's Kimbo . Not a refined collegiate athlete. Before this point, he had nothing handed to him. He was homeless. He could have become a criminal but didn't. He fought other willing people with his bare hands to make some quick money. He got lucky. He got discovered. He's famous overnight. People say he hasn't earned it. How? The man was homeless. He was getting punched in the face, bear-knuckles, to feed his kids. What's the toughest thing Brock ever did? Get cut from the NFL? Lose to Goldberg? He's getting as much of a handout as Kimbo is. Not only does he not deserve it,  HE DIDN'T NEED IT! The man's already got money and fame. All I'm trying to say is, let Kimbo get his money. His time in the business is going to be short. EliteXC is going to build him up, and when the next big thing comes along, there going to bring him down in a big way. I hope he takes all that he can before they do.

  5. Because it seems like everyone else thinks Kimbo will rule MMA, and it's Obvious that Lesnar will clown Kimbo, so i guess by default, that makes him great?

  6. He is in excellant shape. He is strong as a bull.Although I dont think that he has had enough MMA experience.I think with a good BJJ teacher he will be a dominant force in the MMA world.

  7. He isn't great yet but he has a lot of talent and is still somewhat young (be 31 this summer) so he has time to learn.  He is a very good wrestler and obviously has the size and power to stand and fight too.  He just needs to work more some marital arts stuff and he could be a pretty complete fighter in MMA.

Lesnar wrestled at Webster High School in Webster, South Dakota where he managed to have a 33-0 record in his senior year.  Lesnar later attended the University of Minnesota on a full wrestling scholarship for his junior and senior years of college; his roommate was fellow professional wrestler Shelton Benjamin who also served as Lesnar's assistant coach.  Lesnar won the 2000 NCAA wrestling championship as a heavyweight after placing second in 1999. Prior to joining the Minnesota Golden Gophers, Lesnar also wrestled at Bismarck State College in Bismarck, North Dakota.  Lesnar finished his amateur career as a two-time NJCAA All-American, two-time NCAA All-American, two-time Big Ten Champion, and the 2000 NCAA heavyweight champion with a record of 106-5 overall in four years of college.

Jack J - Did you miss his college career?  Its pretty impressive and thats real wrestling not the fake WWE stuff.

  8. It's because he fights for the WWFC.

  9. Dude Lesnar is a beast with world class wrestling ability          REAL wrestling ability, and dont forget how  Mazagatti  jumped in and saved Frank Mir's life when he said he hit

the back of his head, a couple more good shots and Mir would have been done. BTW Mir has 3 wins 2 losses since his accident, and hes set to fight Nogeria for the belt.

Lesnar and Kimbo shouldnt be mentioned in the same sentence. Kimbo fights cans in Elite xc, Lesnar fights top competition in the UFC.

  10. um Frank Mir has had some wins since the accident. second of all he is considered the only, ONLY heavy heavy weight who's best position is bottom. that was a perfect fight for both fighters to test were they are in there careers.

PS after his fight Matt Hughes rampage and one other huge name fighter said that guy will be one of the best ever
