Why does everyone think Nick Riewoldt is overrated?

He got another 24 possesions and 14 marks on saturday. He isn't a full-forward, so he doesn't need to kick bags of goals week in and week out. What do you think??

  1. everyone knows he is overrated.maybe he just needs to get away from that club and go somewhere new..then he might play better footy

  2. becasue he is a " one hit wonder", did so good at the beggining than just kept going down, ppl, still praise as if he is as good as before, he has one good game like eveyr 10 weeks, he is a good player, but doesn't deserve that much attention, for example bradshaw scored like double or triple his goals, and doesn't get as much attention from da media like nick,so thats why, he is **** compared to the attention he gets.and it kind of frustrates you, when you think he is good, than watch him, than u would be like "WTF"

  3. I think Romper nailed this one - won't even try to add to that!!

  4. IMO largely because of what he did so early in his career - he was a no. 1 draft pick, rising star winner, AFL MVP, dual AA at a young age (particularly for a KPP, who notoriously take a while to develop, Riewoldt burst onto the scene and developed rapidly) and hasn't kicked on to become the best key forward in the competition as his early performances/projections would've suggested and many expected. Also because (as you mentioned) he doesn't kick bags of goals frequently (unlike Franklin/Fevola/Pavlich)  and has had well documented goal kicking accuracy problems.

Personally, I rate him very highly (but still behind the above 3, I previously mentioned) and I think just about every team in the competition would love to have him playing at CHF for them.

  5. He has only played well in the last 2-3 or so rounds. He was n.o1 draft pick and he was better early on in his career then he is now! Everyone expects him to be the best in the league but he hasn't quite delivered on public expectations. I still think he is a fantastic player that will be pivotal if the saints are to win a flag.  There's talk of a trade to the new Gold Coast team but i don't think that will happen.

  6. Because he plays with a shithouse team

If he went to a team like Geelong or Bulldogs

    He would be a star

  7. I think he is a good player, but he has been overrated. There are better forwards in the competition, and I haven't seen Riewoldt play consistently very often.

  8. Most ppl I know think so

  9. Because he doesn't kick many goals and hes just gone down hill

  10. because the media builds him up to be a 'superstar' and he is so inconsistant. i mean, when was the last time he got 24 possessions and 14 or so marks in a match?

and he is a centre half forward, so he should be kicking goals. very inacurate kick.

even though this has nothing to do with being over-rated, everytime i look at him, i think of him crying on the bench. lol sooky sooky la la

  11. Yes, the great white hope,  i think he is the most overrated player in the league personally, i will tell you why.

He falls over at nearly every marking contest, even kids know once you go to ground you are no use in the contest, 9/10 times.

he is a shocking kick, people go on about richo, but  Richo would be way ahead of most this season in the accuracy stakes,  st. nicks ball drop is woeful, he drops it from a high position and ball drops off it's target line, i think his 2 nd efforts are non existent when he is beaten for a ball.

I'm not trying to be a smart Alec to you mate, but just watch the game closer and you will get my point, he reminds me of a sooky type kid in the un 14's or something,  he does have his moments but they a far between in my opinion, 24 possessions don't mean a lot nowadays,  for example look at the possessions back-line players get these days, they don't tell the whole truth, i know st.nick isn't a back-man but it's an example of stats being inflated these days.

  12. because he is
