Why does everyone want to start a charity or something but not ever put in the time volunteering. I see about 10 or so of these a day. "how can I start a charity"

Do people not realize that charity's already exist and are lacking seriously lacking in not only funds but volunteers.

Do people not realze that starting a charity is a life's work not a hobby or an oppertunity to work from home or travel?

  1. You are right, but people like to do it anyway and just close their ears and eyes to the reality whats going on among the charity groups. Anyway, it gives them self esteem and recognition in helping the needy / under privileged.

  2. Your very right.......I wouldn't want the headache of starting......I just go volunteer.....You go girl!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. I have wondered the same thing... I think that, indeed, people don't look first to see what organizations are *already* out there, addressing an issue that person feels such passion about, and who would welcome his or her energy and time as a volunteer. And, indeed, they aren't considering the huge amounts of time and resources needed to start a nonprofit organization.

I also think that people think it's a way to work independently -- to be their own boss. Which is, ofcourse, nonsense -- the boss of a nonprofit organization is its board of directors and, once formed, many are only too happy to kick out the founder.

  4. because every one wants to be a leader but their are few workers/followers who want to sacrifice their time to help out

  5. I totally agree! I don't get it - especially these celebrities that have their own charities and stuff - don't they realize there are hundreds, if not thousands, of charities out there already that need and want help?

There are so many charities out there who could use help! Surely there are some that support your cause!

  6. Because everyone wants to be a leader not a follower.  Nobody like to be told what to do.

  7. b/c it's fun to be in charge of things :)

  8. One of the reasons is that they have more control over what happens with the organization and how it's run.

  9. Its about money. Just because it is a charity does not mean that those in charge don't get paid. Most established charities are responsible with their money. If they aren't they get bad publicity for it. People like to start their own because it can be a tax break also.
