a lot of individually owned car audio plaeces have been dropping it the past few years. they all say kicker isn't really a competition quality sub now.

they're right, but why do people still want them so bad?

  1. i think it is cause of money. Kicker has great authorized internet sales so a lot of stores cant mark their product as high anymore (well they can but it wont sell as fast). people will just buy online. a lot (not all) of the other great companies dont have huge authorized internet sales so stores are trying to stick with them because thats where the money is for them

  2. there not so great and same with the newer day rockfords now i perfer alpine type x because it kicks but also i am starting to like some of the cheeper stuff like sony is really starting to step up!!!

  3. It may not be a competition quality sub, but that doesn't mean it's not still a great product.

It's like saying a 1979 Corvette doesn't really compete against modern sports cars. Who cares? it was great once, and still works just fine for those who want it.

If my choices are a lesser price Kicker, because no one thinks it's good, or something they do think is good and I have to pay double for.....forget it, I'll go with the Kicker. It's still good enough, and I'm not paying a jacked up price because of opinion.

  4. because they have a good branding even people who dont know alot about car audio have heard of kicker or they call what ever subs they have kickers  its just associated with being car audio in recent years you have seen alot of the older well known companys start to make so called less products with these other companys coming out of the wood work with these monster subs and other audio components but the fact is ppl are not spending the thousands on high end stuff any more and you see alot of lower end stuff at the spl comps now a dayskicker is smart for having some lower end products alot of companys are going this way now  to stay competitive  and lets face it if you are worth your dime  in audio you can make some fosgate p1s sound great just my thoughts

  5. Personally, it's a good product for the money.  Sure, it's not necessarily a competition quality sub per se.  But, they've earned a good reputation for building a solid product for the money.

I've yet to blow any of their products I've owned with the exception of doing it on-purposely.  (Purchased a CVR with an extended warranty and blew the sub on-purposely because the warranty was expiring and I wanted a new sub.)  Even in doing it ... it took nearly 4 hours overpowering it with my buddy's ZX1500.1 to blow the darn thing.

No need to knock on their reputation ... they've worked nearly 30 years to earn it.  I'm glad they still continue to make good stuff because it keeps all the competition out there on their toes.  It's good for the business and the enthusiast alike.
