Why does everything look green when looking through the viewfinder of my new Sony Handycam?

My husband has a brand-new Sony Handycam, with a hard drive and it's also high-definition. He thinks he might have accidentally changed a setting, because when he turns it on now, it looks normal through the viewfinder but about a second later you hear a click and everything looks green through the viewfinder and also the screen on the side. I thought it might be the night vision setting, but I looked it and was off.

  1. A model number would help, but yes it appears you have the night vision on, there are three settings on most sonys, a colour slow shutter night-vision, a monochrome slow shutter night vision and a ful motion infra red monochrome night vision.

If the motion is blurred then you have the slow shutter version on  with blurred movement (Night SHot) you will change this through the camera settings menu, if you have no blurred movement then you have super Night Shot on, there is usually a physical switch somewhere near the lens for this mode, as you need to activate an optical filter.

You will get the Sony camcorder handbooks as .pdfs from the sony website support section.

  2. you have night vision turned on,  although this is good for dark work, it is ultimately brilliant if yuo have it in while at the pool during the day, !!!! it can see straight thru swimwear, !! NO KIDDING !!! what you have there is an X-ray machine !!

  3. how about you get the instruction book out..or go online to the makers website and find out for sure there?

i would say youve hit the wrong button....but im not technical.
