Why does female dog hump my male cat?

its really annoying. especially for him since he got his leg bitten of, his brother killed, and he got declawed.

Im sorry to say but it is a dominance thing, to combat it you should have asked how to stop it, not why is she doing it. - dont get angry at me just pointing out that.

But to help you there are a few options you can use- You could try to call her away from the cat and when she does give her a treat. if she doesnt, as soon as she does hump shake a bottle (a empty coke bottle, filled with a small bit of gravel) at her and say no loudly.

Try to show her that you see her as dominant over the cat - allow her to eat before the cat, walk through doors before the cat, pat the dog first, basically she does everything before the cat - but after you, you need to be the Alpha and being alpha you will not allow her to do certain things eg humping

i cant tell you why she does it but i can tell you your not alone in this lol i have a male staff who humps my male cat lol To stop him i would pour water over him or roll a newspaper up and smack it on the table scared the s**t outta him lol has stopped compleley now!

shes showing shes the dominant one.

its nothing sexually.

if you want to stop it, when she starts doing that again take a water bottel and spray him once with it,and firmly say "NO" he'll probablyl stop with this method.

She is just trying to dominate him.  It is not a sexual thing at all.

Because she is trying to dominate him! It is her instinct to assert dominance.  You can try the water bottle method every time she hops on him to spray her with the water bottle.
