Why does firefox make you register the Video Converter (to convert to MP3) tool?

I just added to firefox the video converter (which works with the VideoDownload Helper "add on" of Firefox), but I can not convert the flv files to mp3, So I did some research on Mozillas page and they say it is possible to convert to MP3 but you have to register first! Then they say that the program will be blocked after a period of time, and you will be asked to visit a link in order to unblock it! I wonder, are they charging to use this program??? TKS
