Why does flexing our military muscle require "going in" when we have bunker-busting bombs and missiles?

You still have to send in the ground-pounders.  Even in Desert Shield/Desert Storm, where the U.S. Air Force basically decimated Iraq's infrastructure within a matter of days, we still had to send in troops and tanks to take care of the Iraq Army and Saddam's Republican Guard.  It's next to impossible to take out enemy soldiers, either individually or as a group, from the air.
