  1. It doesn't have that effect on everybody.

  2. I remember this question asked by a management man on why they give pilots high salary, when they're just sitting most of the time. Well one ex-pilot who was the program director replied to the management man that "even you inside a theater sit for 3-5 hrs your eyes focus in the screen will be dead tired also, what's more with those pilots up there."

  3. few reasons, one is the lack of body movement, which causes the heart rate to lower, which is also what happens when you go to sleep.

Second, as an airplane climbs, the pressue of oxygen is reduced (typically to an alitude of 8000' msl), so the reduced oxygen when combined lower heart rate, tends to make the body want to enter a sleep state.

Third, flying on instruments (without the use of an autopilot) is very mentaly taxing, so this combined with the other two factors is what makes piloting very exhausting.

Lastely, is the vibration and noise, which tend to take a toll on the body after a long flight, and also when combined with sitting upright, prevent passengers from falling asleep on long night flights.

  4. Because the ropes are tight.

Doesn't anyone watch the reference video?

  5. time zone changes body not used to that

  6. Bordom over those long flights

Now if we could all levitate

  7. tied because of lack of good sleep.  planes makes so loud noised that you cant hardly sleep like in your own bed.   I fly alot so I know! on a 25 hrs flight...I normally get like 5 hrs of sleep time....which leads to being tired!!   but I also learn that getting drunk on the plane do help you sleep better.  so ask for alcohol and start counting them sheeps!!

  8. For me it's sheer boredom and inactivity that's sure to send me to sleep.
