  1. because the glue container is air tight. The glue dries when exposed to air as the water evaporates into the airspace. The container keeps the glue "wet". Same with paint. If you leave the lid open it will form a skim ontop of the glue, but you will be able to get the film off, the film forms a barrier between the wet glue and the airspace. Over time (a long time) the liquid will all evaoprate and the glue in the bollte will become rock hard.

  2. glues are held in a liquid state by a solvent, be it water, tolulene or something else.

In order to dry up, that solvent needs to evaporate.  Evaporation can't take place in the limited environment of the "bottle".  Once the cap is off, or the glue is used on a component, this vapor can off-gas and allow the glue to dry.

  3. i know this for a fact, and i guess this is a very simple question with a simple answer:

there is no oxygen inside the container. even if you open the cap, it will dry over a long period of time.

thats why your sopposed to close it. ever notice it dried on the outside?  this is why

  4. B/c it is not fresh air i would think

  5. Because it is in a sealable container so no moisture is able to escape.

  6. it's afraid too!
