  1. Glue "sticks" when it contacts air. When it;s in the bottle there is no air.

Just leave a glue bottle open, and you'll see that it'll become solid.

  2. Most adhesive glues are suspensions of polymers dissolved in some solvent.  As others have mentioned, they don't start getting sticky until the solvent evaporates and the solute polymerizes.  Super-glues with cyanoacrylate can bond very quickly, so they are kept in containers made of polyethylene or polypropylene.  These plastics and their cousins, are particularly resistant to other substances sticking to them.  They are the ones with a waxy feel, like plastic milk bottles.

(Let me know when you find a glue that works with polyethylene!)

  3. The only stupid question is an unasked one.

I am going to just guess on this but I would say the bottle is coated with something that glue will not stick to, kind of like a pan is coated with Teflon so that food won't stick.  Make sense to you?

  4. The bottle is airtight, so the glue doesn't dry.  It only sticks when it dries.

  5. I think it's because it only starts drying when it's left out in air for a long period, maybe with the cap being off.
