Why does grass grow so fast?

Or why does the grass family grow so fast? If you know on a cellular/molecular level that would be great. Thanks! : )

Photosynthesis. Grass has to mature in one year to produce it's seeds, unlike trees or some other plant life.Other plants grow even faster (like Corn, Bamboo etc.)

Mushrooms grow even faster, maturing in as little as 2-3 days
