Why does hair change from straight to curly over the years?

I always had thick straight hair, but after 2 children, it is naturally curly now, and not as thick.

Can it be changed back? I'm 38.

  1. Because you've had children.

& when you get older your hair starts to fall out.

I really dont think that it will be able to go back to how it used to be.

also stress can make your hair fall out too..

  2. Hi Stormy, I've wondered that too, cause I had dead straight hair, and now I have a kink, it's not very curly, but I have to use a straighteners..

I'll be looking at your answers, (maybe its the hormones or the stresses) lol  :)

  3. My hair used to be straight when i was little, but now its wavy/curly.

And my eyes used to be blue and now they are green!

(I am the only one in my family with green eyes. :))

You can have you hair perminatley straightened.

  4. I Know What You Mean!x

Mine Used To Be Strayytt Denn Perfectlyy Curlyy && Now It''z Likee A Wavyy Bushh!x

    I Havee No Idea?x

  5. I had straight hair until I got it layered a few years ago and now it's a bit kinky. hehe.

    Is your hair layered?

    =]

  6. Does it?, mines always been dead straight and even a perm won't take, it just falls out, i wish mine went curly, perhaps i should eat my crusts.

  7. yes but have you noticed that pubes go from being curly to straight the older you get, maybe you could have a pube transplant pmsl x

  8. I feel your pain. When I was young I had straight thinner blonde hair, now that I'm 24 I have thick light brown hair and rocked a fro throughout my senior year of college. My mom didn't like the graduation pictures haha. I don't think that there is anything you can do other than manually straightening it and using some kind of volumizing products. good luck.

I do agree that it is probably the hormones that your body has produced through the pregnancies,my hair didn't get like this until after puberty.

You could have your hair chemically straightened too, but that only works for existing hair, you would have to keep going back. but that hair would stay straight

  9. well first of all just cause you have had children has nothing to do with the reason that your hair is naturally curly now probably in the past you had an obsession with straightening your hair which then sort of stayed like that i was ot being rude by the way this question is quite hard to answer for some reason you never know it could be hair products you use !!

  10. This is what my hair dresser said to me a while ago.

I was just like you, had straight long thick hair, and i asked my hairdresser that i would like it to be short, layered and thin. She told me because of all the weight from my thick/long hair, it has kind of made my hair straight by "pushing it down". So i had to perm my hair to make it straight.

Don't know about you though, maybe you got a hair cut in the process of having your two children?

  11. Your hair probablly always had a wave or curl to it but since your hair was long and thick it weighted it down. if you blowdryed it, this would also make it straighter. your hair is thinning now as most people's do as the years progress and because your hair is thinner there is less of it keeping it down and so you are starting to see the curls or waves that were always there.
