For the past few weeks, whenever Sully wakes up he cries. I don't get it. He used to wake up talking and laughing and in a great mood. But the past few weeks he's been waking up crabby and crying. And than after about 10ish min he's fine. I don't know what the difference is and why he's doing that. Is it a phase? I like it much better when he wakes up talking and jabbering in his bed! Oh he's almost 16m and I don't believe its teething b/c all but his 2yr molars are cut thru.

  1. I think I can help you there.  I think the reason why Sully wakes up crying is because he might be having bad dreams or bad thoughts.  That has happened to me so I know how he feels.  Tell your son to get the bad thoughts out of his head and he will be his old self again.

  2. Well think about it. Are you a morning person? Does it take you a while to wake up and get gonig in the morning or after a nap? Kids are mini adults and they too may or may not be morning people or after nap people. I know i'm not the happiest person in the morning or after a nap it takes me a good 30 minutes or so to get going. my oldest son (4yrs old) is a morning person he's up and going and acts like he could run a marathon. while my used to be happy and giggling baby, now two and a half is not a  happy camper when he wakes up in the morning or after a nap. not by a long shot. i think it has to do with different personalities. every child is different.  sometimes they haven't gotten enough sleep, while other times they may have gotten too much and still feel groggy. that sometimes happens. eventually they'll grow out of or he may just not be a morning person. ya never know. I have to hold my two and a half year old every time he wakes up for about 15 mintues after that he gets down and he's still cranky but not crying until he's good and awake. after that he's as good as gold. go with the flow, find something that will comfort him until he gets good and awake. my oldest has nightmares, i was plagued by them too as a kid. but he's grown out of them for the most part. you never know what it is whether it's a bad dream or whether it's just them not being a morning person until they get a little older and communicate better.

  3. My niece used to do that... But she eventually grew out of it.

First she used to cry when she woke up and when she grew out of that, when she would wake up, she just wouldn't talk or smile or anything for at least 10-15 minutes then she would start being herself.

Just in case though, I suggest you visit your midwife or GP or something, just to make sure =]

  4. I have no idea why, but its totally normal. My daughter does the same thing.
