Why does hudson river water level increase and decrease daily?

has it got something to do with waxing and waning of the moon?

  1. The Hudson is tidal all the way up to Albany/Troy (about 130 miles.)


  2. The lower Hudson River is an estuary from New York City to Troy.  One reason for the changing levels of the river is daily high and low tides (so yes it does have to do with the lunar cycle) but river levels change seasonally as well.
